    my new mixte

So finally I got back around to this guy. I stripped the paint and finished it off with a fine wire wheel. It left it with a brushed aluminum sort of look and I thought it was cool so I kept it.

Been a busy weekend!!! *56k lick a window*

Looks like that mug of yours could use a little work too. Leave that bike alone, it looks silky as is. Soon I'll be sending you more pics my Texas brother.

    my new mixte

Naynay! Hmm, progress? That's what happens when you actually work on something. The new house has grabbed all the attention for the last 2 months and the mixte is still in hibernation here in MI. It's too bad that glazed ceramic backsplash tiles are not as cool as springer forks. I'll have...

    my new mixte

Well keep in mind that this is a newbie answering the question but Mixte is referring to that style of frame. I don't know much about the origins, but the basics are that the Mixte is a ladies frame where the top tube is basically 2 smaller tubes that run from the headtube to the rear stays. I...

    my new mixte

As far as I can tell, the wheels are not ARAYAs or UKAIs. They are just stamped with Fuji markings. I believe the bike is an early 2000s model. As far as the sizing goes, I've never had a mixte before and haven't had this one to the point where I've ridden it. I'm about 5'10" and just from...

I'll check when I get home. Any chance those would have been found on a Fuji?

    my new mixte

The wheels I got off a 24" Fuji Sanibel cruiser I found on CL. They are in great shape and the aluminum grey looks pretty cool. I am feeling a little BMXy right now with it, but I really don't know what I want to do with it. i like the Stingray style bars I have on it right now, but who knows.

    my new mixte

I got this frame a while ago but the build pace is slowing. November in Michigan without a garage is starting to suck. I replaced these 24 x 2.125 tires with some 24 x 1.75's because the rear didn't fit. I am thinking about either stripping the paint and powdercoating all white, or just...

    Super deLuxe

So this is what I ended up with. I think I might use a different seat because this one is not too comfy, but the shape worked out for me. This is my first attempt with a 2 color paint scheme, the frame is Krylon Ruddy Brown Primer highlighted with Krylon Flat black. The rear is 20" and the...

I know this reply is a little late, but what size tires did you use on that?

    My '72 MantaRay build

I agree, slick clean bikes like that are the coolest kind. Less is more. Except for when more is really really cool.

The Beacon Flyer...is now the Super deLuxe

Well, in my humble abode the projects are starting to pile up pretty rapidly. I love the frame, but I don't see myself using it in the near future. I thought I'd give someone else a shot with it and see if they can do something cool. If no one wants it, I guess I'll have to deal with the harsh...

The Beacon Flyer...is now the Super deLuxe

Update: I just got some new seat posts and I am still trying to decide between them. Layback Style: BMX Style: I am waiting for a BMX style seat from Ebay to add to the bike and then I will probably be done for now. I just stripped the paint yesterday and I am still trying to decide on a...

The Beacon Flyer...is now the Super deLuxe

So I got a new bike from Dingo and it changed my whole outlook on things. I found that it fit a cool crank I had, and I really liked the shape. The outcome is just a bit different. This is just a mockup. I am going to pull it back apart and clean it up a bit. I also want to paint it but...

The Beacon Flyer...is now the Super deLuxe

Re: The Beacon Flyer I used Oxalic Acid. It comes in a crystal form (sold as Wood Bleach at a hardware store) and you mix it with water and soak anywhere from 12-24 hours, depending on how bad the rust is. It really only works well on chrome though. Anything really deeply pitted or regular...

The Beacon Flyer...is now the Super deLuxe

Here is my second attempt. I picked up this 20" Beacon Flyer a few weeks ago and had an idea to completely redo everything on. Strip down, re-paint, swap out all components. Before: Also, if anyone knows more about this Beacon Flyer, let me know. I am having a tough time finding out anything...

Best way to ship a set of wheels?

What is the best way to ship a pair of wheels. They are 20" spoke coaster brake wheels with tires. It's my first time shipping a pair, what do you guys usually use to pad and keep everything secure without adding a ton of weight?

Hello everyone, I am re-introducing myself. I joined in August as c_bishop, but I have changed my username. I am still a newbie so many of you probably don't know me anyways but I have posted a few times. Included in those posts is my original introduction where I talked about my first build...
