This is a Spiegel Air Man frame similar to a Simplex. This started out just a frame that I bought .I found the tank in the sheep field at Copake .I Finally had a day to make some progress 6/5/16 but a long way to go. I wanted to enter this on the starting date as I have in the past but I wanted to feel that I had a handle on what I was doing .And that I may be able to finish this before the build off deadline before making a build thread. I'm trying to figure out a drive train so that I can make the bike pedal also.( If I can't get it to pedal I will gracefully drop out.) The bike is mostly bicycle parts . Rollfast Truss rods, 1950 Huffy Woman's fork . Columbia Crank bearings in the head tube .1940s Torrington bars . Columbia Stem . Schwinn exercise bike seat Wald Rack & fenders . ACS bmx front hub . The rear is a Shimano rear disk brake . The motor is a late 1940s ? Clinton motor with a jack shaft from a 1940s lawn mower that I bought for $15 bucks at a yard sale & it runs like a champ. The rear drop outs are from a OCC chopper bicycle.

This is my starting point .

All I did was strip & paint the frame until a couple of weeks ago. I also trial & error gathered parts .

The rear Drop out donor .

Truss rods needed adjustment. The Fork is a 1950s Huffy womans fork. The truss rods are Rollfast. The bearings are Columbia Crank bearings.

The bike then sat painted until two weeks ago well after the build off start date

Paint was only thing done before the build off .

This is yesterdays mock up. I can make this pedal & will some how .(Suggestions welcome ) but this was never intended to do so. With that being said Id like to be able to pedal it so it can be a bicycle. And be considered a motorized bicycle to keep it street legal with out any doubt .Even though almost the entire bike will be bicycle parts . I appriciate any help . I think I'm going to order a belt drive clutch with a whizzer belt Sheave for the rear wheel & ditch the jack shaft or use the jack shaft for a crank pedal set up. (I hope the rear whizzer belt loop/holder its large enough to get around the rear disk brake so I can use the brake still . )

Thanks for any help.

That looks too cool!
I'm sure you'll work up something on the pedal drivetrain.

Good looking motor bike . Looks Like it will be fun to ride [emoji106]

for the pedal drive it would be easer if the pedals were behing the engine , so the chain does not have to go around the engine to reach the wheel ..the other option would be to relocate things that are in the way , leaving only the width of the engine casing, to leave room for the chain to pass by ... the down tubes looks to wide for a conventional pedal crank also.. , custom ? .. cool frame , can't wait to see what it will become

You may find a crank from a cheep fat wheel bike there fairly wide

Bike crank to a freewheel on the jackshaft for the pedal assist.
Regular gear on the jackshaft too, fed by the clutch.
I have seen this arrangement before, slick setup.
Can't tell you how, I've yet to build a motored bike.... yet...

Carl.

The rear drop out donor was an OCC frame...
Unless you scraped it already you have a wide BB...
But is it wide enough???

Carl.

I would need two of them to make it work but I have them . Free time is likely what I'm lacking to continue at a pace to complete the bike in time for the build off. But I still have a little time left.
11days! get to work ! :rockout:
