Red Rims

Where do you guys get those red 26" rims? Are they sold like that, or do you strip and paint chrome ones?

One set I purchased and the other I had powder coated. Other colored rims I have I painted myself and were either painted steel or aluminum to start.

I painted mine. They were nasty when I started.

I sanded the chrome first, then used a self-etching primer. I try to salvage as many original parts as possible.

when it comes to single speed rims, you can only get chrome rims around here. So If I want painted rims I have to find some old rims, strip em' down, and paint them.

I got this specifically for the rims. It's 79 bucks online. There are other decent parts...handlebars, stem, fenders. The pedals are cheap plastic, the seat is squeaky and uncomfortable. I may use the frame and fork for a burrito bike.

I used the rims for this bike. the 24 x 3 tires were a little tricky mounting...they didn't want to stay on at first, but after a couple tries of letting the air out and remounting they stay on fine.
