This is a Spiegel Air Man frame similar to a Simplex. This started out just a frame that I bought .I found the tank in the sheep field at Copake .I Finally had a day to make some progress but I have a long way to go. The bike is mostly bicycle parts . Rollfast Truss rods, 1950 Huffy Woman's fork . Columbia Crank bearings in the head tube .1940s Torrington bars . Columbia Stem . Schwinn exercise bike seat Wald Rack & fenders . ACS bmx front hub . The rear is a Shimano rear disk brake . The motor is a late 1940s ? Clinton motor with a jack shaft from a 1940s lawn mower that I bought for $15 bucks at a yard sale & it runs like a champ. The rear drop outs are from a OCC chopper bicycle.
This is my starting point .
All I did was strip & paint the frame until a couple of weeks ago. I also trial & error gathered parts .
The rear Drop out donor .
Truss rods needed adjustment. The Fork is a 1950s Huffy womans fork. The truss rods are Rollfast. The bearings are Columbia Crank bearings.
The bike then sat painted for a while .( Due to a Lack of free time )
This is a mock up. I can make this pedal & will some how .(Suggestions welcome ) but this was never intended to do so. With that being said Id like to be able to pedal it so it can be a bicycle. And be considered a motorized bicycle to keep it street legal with out any doubt .Even though almost the entire bike will be bicycle parts . I appriciate any help . I think I'm going to order a belt drive clutch with a whizzer belt Sheave for the rear wheel & ditch the jack shaft or use the jack shaft for a crank pedal set up. (I hope the rear whizzer belt loop/holder its large enough to get around the rear disk brake so I can use the brake still . )
This is my starting point .
