I have found an unbelievable source for parts and he has several 26" rims with sturmey archer hubs. I would like to make my bike a 3 speed, and I could get these pretty cheap, but there is no shifter chain/cable with any of them. Since I don't know anything about SA hubs, I was hoping you guys could give me some advice. Are the shifter parts for these hubs easy to come by? If so, how easy are they to work on? I could probably pick up a few of these for about $3 to $5 each but if they aren't servicable, it isn't worth my time. Thanks for your help.

Buy all of them and whatever you dont keep SELL TO US!! lol

dunno if these are 3-speed coasters you're talking about, but I found this link VERY informative when someone posted it recently:

and here's another Sheldon Brown info page in addition to the one posted above:

I'm actually in the process of hunting a 28-hole Sturmey 3-speed coaster hub now. Besides the hub, you will need, if I understand correctly:

The "indicator chain" that threads into the hub
The "anchor" piece that clamps to the cable and threads to the chain
Shifter (there are LOTS of S/A choices out there that will work, but other brands won't)
Cable
Long axle nut that the chain slides in and out on
Washers with flats on them to "index" the axle so it doesn't turn in the frame

Someone please set me straight if I'm off on this, I've learned all this thru reading, not actual experience...
