THE MYSTERY TEAM SCHWINN 22" BMX or MTB?

Okay...I'm not even really sure this is a Schwinn, but I thought it looked neat.

I went over to look at an 80s model Univega and the guy had this one there too.

He said that at one point it had a freewheel out back, but he added the 5 speed cassette.

Sounded like th bike got passed around a bit. It has some 22" x 1.75" wheels.

The paint seems questionable...like someone painted the frame at one point.

Anybody with any info on this bike please speak up.

Thanks...it is interesting alrighty.

My guess is that it's been painted and some decals off another bike were used on it.

Would be a cool MTB for a kid though.

i would say it was originally a multi speed due to the cable guides on the frame so I probably wouldnt classify it as a bmx
i searched around the schwinn catalogs and cant find anything
but the pars and stem look to match late 80s schwinn ATBs bmx bob will prolly know

Hmmm...that's a very good question.

I was just going off the 4 digit number stamped on the badge.

Probably a Schwinn Duro. These were 5 or 6 speed kids mountain bikes. Looks to be repainted with early Team Schwinn decals added.
