This race takes place in many locations. I will be racing my new excersise bike converted to cruiser. The local race to me is in American Fork, Ut on July 11. It is a 21 mile race with two stops at the 7 mile marks. you ride, eat dougnuts, ride, eat doughnuts, ride. You get a 3 min. time credit for every dougnut you eat. It sounds like my kind of race. Most people will be on road bikes. Serious riders will ride in groups to draft each other. I am going to "crash the race with my brothers. We are all going to ride a cruiser of some sort. One will have a basket on front with an empty doughnut box.

Bike ride and doughnuts?

This should give you time to get in shape. I will bump this post as a reminder in june and again in july.

YES! last years winner ate 25. can I use this face for wanting to puke? That equals 75 min time credit. He ended up with a time of NEGATIVE 3min:45sec.

There is an award for fastest time. Time credits included.

There is a separate award for the person who eats the most doughnuts without puking and just completing the race.

Doesn't that mean he went back in time? Wow, donut powered time travel.

This is the July BUMP!

It is coming up! July 11.

I don't know if there are any ratrodders nearby, but if there are, the 21 mile race is in American Fork, Ut. Search the web for (tour de donut utah) for more info.

I just took my schwinn excersisor stretch for a 25 mile ride today. Not sure how fast I did the first half. I kept it around 17-19mph going up. I timed 11 miles on the way back at 25 min. :D I was up to 31 mph for some short streches, and was able to keep up 24-27 for about 4-5 miles. I stopped at a lbs on the way back to weigh the bike and give them a good laugh. It came in at 43.65 pounds. I am going to have fun trying to keep up with all the 20 pound or less bikes. :| But at least I will do it with style! It sure would be fun to see another ratrodder come.

Shoot that pad Duplicolor Upholstry black, and I'll never mention the seat again. Those times are respectable for a heavy internal gear bike, even in "normal" configuration.

That's funny Deorman. I was planning on putting the metal seat back on after the race, but I am starting to like this one. I realized that the seat is comfortable. The problem was that I wasn't used to pedaling in that seating configuration. My butt was sore from pedaling, not from sitting.

I just got back from my last "long" ride before Saturday. I went 20 miles in 71 min. stopped 3 times to get drinks, slowed for 2 phone calls, and stopped at several red lights. It looks like I MIGHT be able to hit my goal of 21 miles in less than an hour.

Well, It's over.

I was waiting to post an update until I had a link to pics and videos, but it looks like they are taking their time.

I saw one other bike out of 380 or so that had whitewall tires. They got a flat tire in the first couple of miles. So other than a few mountain bikes and some kids, it was basically me and a whole lot of road bikes.

There were two classes. Competition and Exhibition. I did the exhibition because it was cheaper and I didn't think I would do very well riding a 44 pound lowrider. The competition riders got a 6 min. head start. I had hoped to catch a few of them by race end. Instead, I cought most of them by the end of the first lap. :D It was a BLAST literally squeaking past people on their carbon fiber road bikes! Turns out I just hit my goal of one hour. It took me 59 min. Based on my time, even after the 3 min per donut time credits the competion riders got, I still would have finished at 17th or 18th. :D
I am definitley doing this again next year!
