Okay so upon further inspection of my 1944 CWC frame I discovered the rear section is pretty much gone I've got some major rust in the kickstand area as well as one of the chain stays so I am asking for opinions on back-halfing this thing and welding it to my trike in doing so I would lose the serial number on the bottom bracket and have to do some welding and sleeve the tubes but all doable what is your opinion?
I'm thinking if I cut the seat tube about 6 in from the crank I can sleeve it there and cut the down tube about the same and sleeve it that would make my joints strong enough and I would just have the junction under the seat to weld and I could grind everything flush for a clean look. Doing it this way and keeping the original bottom bracket in place would maintain the original chain line and the only thing affected would be steering and as long as I get that straight I should be okay on that end the front of the frame is very solid but the back frame leaves something to be desired. Has anyone else dealt with rust issues like these?
