Re: Where Am I?

On a whim Friday morning we loaded the bikes in the truck and took off for Minneapolis (640 miles) to attend the Tour De Fat on Saturday.
Our 5th TDF in 4 different cities and we've never been disappointed. A great time! I leave the TDF with the same emotions you have as a kid wanting to run away and join the circus.

Once there I contacted MplsCoaster who even though with short notice was kind enough to rearrange his schedule and ride over to the park so we could meet in person. Thanks Steve!

More photos here and I should have a video soon.

On the road in Iowa.

Cool but not near as cool as Grillmaster Mitch's (ratfink1962). This rig also provided music for the parade.

Didn't really like the Shift beer but there was no line for it and you got more for your money (token).

MplsCoaster and myself. Steve's a great guy and even had the accent I imagined he would.

Re: Where Am I? (Photos added)

Great photos as usual! :D

I'm sure the cooler temps up there weren't a discouragement either.

Randy, I'm now convinced you own your own refinery in Kansas.

Re: Where Am I? (Photos added)

Thanks Randy and Nova for contacting me and posting all the great pictures
Sure was fun to meet and talk with you :D
And it's cool to see your home town from someone else's perspective
Glad you both had a good time :D
I'll post my pics tomorrow

Looks you guys had fun. We were wondering where you'd been after you blew by us on the turnpike. I knew it was you because of Nova's bike!

Video. Kinda long but I tried to keep it moving http://youtu.be/3RhnnVb1AMY

check out the cool tag. Haven't seen these at any TDF before that I recall.
Becasue of thes 2 lines, my wife will be going next year, thanks Randy :D

I'll check out your video in a bit.
Your lead picture (on your site) IS the Stone Arch Bridge going into Downtown like we were talking about

So my story now:
Sat morn saw a PM from Randy that said They were going to be at Mpls TDF and maybe they'd see me there
So I replied back (w/cell #) but wasn’t sure Randy would get it
Headed down hoping I could connect with them

This is the first (and probably last) time you’ll ever see this
My chain came off as a cranked hard through an intersection
So I stopped at the bike shop on the Greenway
One mech said $5 to reposition the wheel and could get right to it

He had no idea what he was working with but I figured it was relatively straightforward
Then he started asking the other mech what grease was on the chain
I almost laughed when they started smelling it. I piped up that it was anti-seize grease,
and I liked running my chains greasy, as he started wiping it off :x

Got down to the DFT and started looking for Nova and Randy
Took some shots of bikes, action and displays as I went through

Luckily we made the connection and it was great to see them
They have very cool bikes, especially Randy’s bare metal bike
Nova and Randy were as nice and interesting as I had expected

So we talked for a couple of hours which was really fun
I’m sure I blathered way too much, sorry…
It was sure fun to see Nova and Randy at Tour De Fat!
Glad They had good weather (~25F cooler than KS)

Took the long way home on such a nice day

What a great forum RBB is to be able to connect with like minded bikers!
Thanks for looking
Steve

Maybe we could make a game out of Randy's travels, something similar to Where's Waldo?
It's funny to think that he probably had that in mind when he snapped the spaceliner

If I could just get you to Pay To Play :D

Sounds good, but you would have to dress like this.................

Setup a slick website, paypal subscription, Make it an interactive game.... might be surprised how many people would participate.

Hmmm... Probably not a bad idea. Wish I was a little more ambitious.

Reminds me... Anyone watching the Pedal America series on PBS? Maybe not the greatest show but a great idea for one.

This just in from the TDF...
Well Minneapolis you rounded out our Midwest tour in style! 800 bike paraders, 3000 TdF attendees and you raised $19,000. Nothing mini about that!
