As much as I want to build the Olympic through to the end, I've lost the mojo. I'll still build it into a ridable bare steel bike, just not for this build off.

I was moving stuff around in the garage for a photo session to show off the springers I've collected when I threw this Beehive springer on the Hawthorne.

That spark has been burning in my mind since last week and I couldn't get it out. So I pulled it out again and threw some parts at it to see what would stick

Too fat and lose

Too skinny

Too gawdy (it screams "Look at me, I'm trying to be Mr Kingfish") lol

Now THIS is what I'm talking about!
Some astute followers might recognize this Hawthorne frame. It was the starting point of my Girthy Gerty build from '22. The tank I bought for Gerty didn't quite fit this bike, but I still really like the lines of the frame. The (new) plan is still going to be cyberpunk inspired. I'm going to build a tank from scratch for it, as well as a few other 'punk add-ons

The decision to switch frames was completely because of a lack of motivation. It has nothing to do with the stripped out and seized quill type seat post that somehow got jammed in the seat tube. Nope, nothing at all

This is too funny!!! Call it Gawdy Roddy Piper if you go that route. :D

I don't see you going wrong with any of those mockups, but I do like the one you've picked for now. The Olympic will still be there for you another day. Keep soaking it in PB Blaster.

Went for a ride on The Beast to clear my head today.

Hopefully after next week my shop will be done with overtime so I can make some progress on the Hawthorne. The paychecks on these 60 hour weeks is okay-ish, but I feel like a zombie most of the time

Had to wait until later in the day to get started. After yesterday's ride with Uncle Shish, I'm more fried than an extra crispy KFC chicken wing dunked in extra strength CBD oil

Did some testing to see which tires would work best. Stretched some balloon tires onto the rims and tested fender fitment. The Carlisle tire in the center is going to be the winner. The other ones either had the tread pattern looking too narrow (left) or didn't fit any fender well enough (right)

I want a taillight that is unique and stylish, so I'm using this Chinesium cheapo for mock ups.

I attached it to a spray paint can that's the same diameter, then shaped the can to fit in the back of the fender

There's still more to do with the back fender, but I'm waiting on some C.A.D. (cardboard aided design) files.

Killer idea to make the light shroud out of a spray paint can.

I got home just as the skies turned overcast, which was perfect for my sunburn. Didn't have to deal with the sun today😎

Got to do some C.A.D. work on the taillight bezel. It wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be to get the look I wanted.

That should do nicely once it's cut out and attached. Gonna add some speed holes to the sides of it to show off the inner shroud and add a little strength to what would otherwise be a big piece of floppy metal

I'm liking that rear tail light idea. Build is coming along nicely.
