Young guys first old Schwinn

This is Kieth , he's learning the bicycle buisiness at my LBS and at 15yo I have to say he's doing pretty well.
The bike started out as a '48 Schwinn ? something or other , here it is revamped with what ever he could find
and a few parts from me....
fitting some old bars

and a Diamondback bmx crank and 70s mag sprocket, he did all the prep, paint and graphix note the tank plate
he actually used hot melt glue on the leather ??? ok also in this pic is Dave , he's probably forgot more about bikes
then most of us will ever know with over 50 yrs in the biz .

a quickie ride around the parking lot then off he went

cut him some slack eh as he's pretty happy with this old bike...keep it up boy !

needs a laid back seat post, new pedals and tighten that chain up a little and this bike is right on!!! nice lookin ride for such a young man!

it is good to see young people take up the art of bike building. get them young and train them right. i got into it when i was 16yrs old and now im 32. hopefully, it will stick.

Looks good. Now he needs to leave it alone and start on another one!

I wish I still had the first bike I built up. I couldn't leave well enough alone and it got parted out for other bikes.

I'm sure Kieth will appreciate all the good comments but I doubt he will leave well enough alone , his plan is a 24x3 in the rear with a 3sp.
coaster but he has to earn it first....them tires don't come to cheap .
