Wasn't sure if I was going to be able to enter the build off this year but think I can get it done. Don't have time or anything to build for class 2 this year so this will be my first class 1 build. So surprise it will be a space liner I know there's already a couple of them already but all I have to build right now. This is my starting point

I think it has a Schwinn fork but probably won't use it. I have a couple different chain guards I might use instead of the stock one.

I'm liking the top one better but I'll need to fab a bracket to mount to the down tube.
Not sure if I can get this nexus 7speed to fit but if I can't then I have to figure something else out.

Bring it on Brian! Good to see you joining in again on the build off.

RaT oN ~!

Worked on my build after work today got some fenders mocked up that originally came off a ladies rollfast I gender bent papa's ride. Then I needed to figure out how to make a bracket for the chainguard. so I took some masking tape and put it on the bracket cut around the outside. Took it and laid it on some sheet metal traced it out and cut it out. Took a piece of pipe formed it with a hammer and drilled couple holes.

Not really liking the fenders, seat, or the fork that came off a Columbia. Thinking a springer would go with the curve of the top tubes. Wheels are just for visual aid.

- Gotta make those wheels fit
- Great bracket
- Agree, the seat is not working.

Would rotating the front fender forward help? If so, trim the rear to same height on the backside?

Nope, there is no such thing as TOO MANY liners!
Glad to see you in the fun again! The Nexus 7 should fit the frame with just a little stretching apart of the rear end.

Made up a template for a tank out of cardboard.

Layered up some wood out of 2 pieces of 1 1/8 sandwiching a piece of 1/2 plywood all cut to shape.

Then this afternoon I decided to get the rear wheel to fit and lose the fenders. I made a quick little device to get the job done out of some all thread nuts washers and couple pieces scrap wood.

I decided to put it in front of the dropouts so I didn't need to worry about just pushing the dropouts out. Originally there was about 4 1/2 inches between the dropouts and I needed like 5 1/8. Ended up going to around 6 1/2 to allow for it to relax. Fit right in looks like chain line is lined up so guess it spread evenly.

So yesterday I got some work done shaping the tank I made but not much of anything else. Still have a little more sanding on it. I made a slit in the front with a drill and Dremel so it could slide onto the tab then made a recess for the other tab so the tank could hug up tight against the bottom top tubes. Drilled a hole thru and tapped it for a screw to hold back of the tank.

Now I'm playing the waiting game waiting for some parts to come in. Guess I could start breaking it down and start getting ready for paint. Nothing I am waiting on doesn't need mocking up.

Nice work on that tank!

Brian-M, I like how your tank is sort of the 'inverse' of the open space created by the cantilevered top tube pairs.

It has a sort of 'Yin and Yang' look to it. Cool!

Not much to post about but got a springer fork off the bay took the Columbia forks off and test fit the springer. Going to have to cut down the steer tube a little so I can take all the spacers off. Also changed the skewer front axle for a normal threaded one to work with the springer.

That's the first Spacey Liner I've seen with a Schwinn type springer and it flows with the frame most excellent.
Thanks that's the reason I decided on them thought the curve mimicked the curve of the top tubes and kinda the same with the bottom top tubes and the straight bars on the springer except one is curved.
