I've got these two chrome 20" frames and haven't figured out what brand they are.
Whay do you think I have here?

I would bet they are in the same era...but, compare the welds between the two. Night and day.

Jason

edit - the triangle on the rear dropout makes me think Akisu made, but that doesn't really narrow it down much as they made bikes for lots of brands.

+1.

I'm thinking it's a big box store bike

I'm putting this one together to satisfy my life long desire to have a chrome BMX with black mags. Who says dreams don't come true?!
Whatcha think this one is?

'85 Open Road...Race Certified...seriously, that's the model . Sold by Montgomery Wards, I believe. The early Open Roads were made by Huffy...I'm not sure if they made this one, however.

Would have been 1" threaded headset stock, of course...but, the threadless will definitely give it a mid-school vibe.

Looks like a Huffy Rock "It" judging by the top tube at seat post junction and the shape of the oval top tube in that area. Huffy did produce a 20 inch MTB. Pacific Cycle also did at one time owned bought the GT logo and rights, and started selling GT bikes in department stores along with Schwinn as well. the GT logo as seen on your frame even tho it does not look like the traditional GT frame we know might be a pacific cycles GT 20 inch MTB frame.

What does all this mean...Nothing throw it in the scrap heap. Sorry to be blunt.

No worries; it sold on CL last Friday so I'm happy.
