Now that my kid is turning 1 and ready to go on bike cruises at the beach or on pathways I decided that I wanted to build a full time "dad" cruiser. Specifics I had in mind when putting it together:
  • A bike where her bike seat is attached to full time.
  • Internally geared (not automatic)
  • Skinnier/Taller Tire
I came upon what looks like a fastback looking comfort bike with 700x45C wheels/tires and a 3 speed nexus rear hub, perfect! I kind of reminded me of a bigger Schwinn Camelback.
Previous owner hated the original white color, painted it gray and then painted it black. I have no idea what brand this bike is, it came with a beat up old cheap schwinn seat.
This is how I got it:

Plans were to disassemble, strip the paint and leave it in bare metal raw state. Well that happened pretty quickly. Tore it apart and stripped the paint to bare metal with a wire wheel and paint stripper.

Hated the cruiser bars and the stem. Since my worksman INB is no more I have my GBP Big Crooks Bars available and a SR 22.2 MTB stem. I put it back together after I hit it with a few coats of clear and some light sanding. Added black bear trap pedals, a chang star brake lever, 80's schwinn cruiser seat, Thule kids seat, longer shifter and brake lines due to the much wider bars and called it a day.

This bike is so comfortable to ride I think it will probably see more miles than my klunker and BMX cruisers combined.

I'm looking for a cool headbadge now and bag for the top bar for snacks and sunblock.

Thanks for looking!

That's a really cool bike. Looks great!

Trying to find a similar setup for my 8-speed 700c wheelset. Nothing has been quite perfect yet.

Not so sure on how to post pictures the right way anymore.

Moving over to a bigger tire/wheel is a game changer, I guess I sorta see why people have gone for the 29er.
But I will keep riding a 26" til death due us apart.
I did think about putting on a 26" straight fork and wheels, it didn't look half bad with the just the fork. I'm happy i kept it stock though.
Here's a pic of what that sort of could've looked like.

Nothing wrong with 26". It's my preference for anything not a roadbike... although I do want 700s on my DB Drifter1.
