a piece of BMX history - Murray MX

got this up at the same Clayton Ga flea market as i got the green typhoon and the maroon free spirit.
this is a 1976-78 i think, Murray MX. got it for $40.

looks to be all original.
the plastic tank and fenders are awesome. looks like a motocross bike.
i think it was an easy way to convert the cantilever stingray style frames for the motocross enthusiast.
everything is in great shape but the chain.
i really just bought it for the rat trap springer, but i am really liking this bike.

anybody know any more about these?

That's a great find and it's in awesome shape.

Even still has the caps on the axle bolts! :shock:

yeah, that does take me back. can't believe that the axle end protectors are still on there. if only i could fit on something like that again.

Looks like a distant cousin of my 1973 Huffy HMX-450.

Nice find. Those waffle grips sure bring back memories.
