Hey guys. I saw the stripped and teased bike one of the most recent buiuldoffs and decided i liked it enough to make my own because i figured the owner might not want to let go of it and if he did i wouldn't be able to afford it. so i looked at his bike build and built mine as close as i could to match it. i hope this doesn't offend anyone that i copied it and want the original builder to know i did it because i loved the bike.

This is what i started with, a 60's model schwinn american i bought for at Greenlee's, a local bike shop (not including the tank).

i took the sanding wheel out and stripped the frame and cleared it and put it in the shed until i get more parts to work with and on

i already had this electra wheel laying around which i will strip and paint for the rear wheel. i ordered a new wheelset from electra and will build the rear wheel hardware into the newly painted front wheel.

This is an old 26 x 1 3/8 for the front that i took off an old 60's rollfast. i stripped the chrome and primed it. . . ready for paint.

and here is the rear primed and painted seafoam green, not the same as the original but i thought i'd do something different so they weren't exact matches.

got my horse buggy tire today and mounted it on the rear wheel for a reason im not sure of. just wanted to see it on there.

found an exact match to the tea infuser on ebay and grabbed it up and found a matching booklight at target and did some drilling, cutting, and fitting and mounted it to the frame.

here's how i laced the wheels - i took a new 26 x 1 3/8 and my new electra wheel and put them side-by-side with matching wheels and lined up the stem holes. then i taped them together and moved the spokes one at a time from the old wheel to the new wheel. then i tightened them and took them to greenlee's to be trued cuz i haven't mastered the art of truing wheels yet.

fork came in from danimal so i did a mock up with it. also found a green insulator at a yard sale for a quarter and used a dryer vent hose clamp to hold it on and installed the led flashlight i bought on ebay.

got half the tank on and i would like to thank bikebuilder for the seatpost. i got the seat on ebay and put on the pedal assembly with a new chain.

this is the last pic i took before i traded for some other bikes from gaskill. after the photo i installed a 333 gripshit set and some bow pedals. so whoever owns this bike now, i hope you enjoy it as much as i enjoyed building it!

Man oh man...you did a great job.

When I read the first post I had my doubts, but you really did nail it.

Mark should be flattered by your replica.

looks like kram built it himself! but i think you need to paint the tank like his.

well done are you going to paint that tank like kram's too? other than that they are twins and i would be flattered too as long as you give credit to the original builder of the design it is all good in my eyes. hmmm makes me wonder what you are looking for that fork for?

well karfer lets just say that somewhere in the u.s. there's a fedex truck delivering a cycletruck. and i've been working on some areobar grips. he-heh. it won't be a replica, but i will use some of your ideas. . . with your blessings, of course.
