Single family owned since new. 1954 serial#, hub is dated 1-55. Appears to be complete and all original including the Schwinn Tornado tires.

Yeah, that's an amazing find, first year only seat and all. I have one that matches a late '54 serial as well as a '56 serial. I always thought it'd be awesome for it to be one of the first but I'm pretty positive mine is a '56. Yours is definitely all 1955 model. Great find; in metro Detroit too!
