So I bought a bar, one of my more expensive bike part purchases, $60 for the Evo bar basket combo. I got the bar and realized it had a 25.4mm (1") clamping section.

I wanted to put it on an old Giant hybrid bike, but it has a 1" threaded fork.

Finding a 22.2mm quill stem with a 25.4mm bar clamp had it's issues. A friend had a threadless stem with a 25.4mm bar clamp, so I decided to get a threaded to threadless adapter. I put one in my Amazon wish list and my wife surprised me with it, unfortunately it was 1 1/8" quill to 1 1/8" threadless. So, worthless.

A week ago I bought "the right one" off of eBay and I just took it out to the shop, the stem fits on the bar, and the adapter fits in the bike, but the top part of the adapter is 1" threadless!!!!!!! :x :x :x

Now I've got 2 adapters and neither will work.

What a mess. So to fix all of this I need ONE of the following:

-shim from 1" threadless to 1 1/8" (do they make that?)
-quill to threadless adapter from 22.2mm to 1 1/8"
-22.2mm quill stem with 25.4mm bar clamp (removable face)
-1" threadless stem with 25.4mm bar clamp (removable face)

If anyone has any of these things, I will trade you the parts not needed for it.

If not, use the rest of this thread to poke fun at me.

Someone is bound to have one of those shims laying around that they could trade for my 1 1/8" Profile threaded to threadless adapter!

I mite have the proper quill ya need...maybe not. Gotta break out the calipers.
I just posted to goof on you 'cause Yer in a silly spot!
don't worry pal. We've ALL been there.
we(the RRB community ) will getcha rolling!

Via PMs, it looks like I'm getting a shim!

RRB is the best community around... now there's a whole lotta space left to make fun of me and maybe jab me for buying the BMX frame off of eBay last week by accident.

All of you need to come to my house and just help me finish up all my projects because your brains are working better than mine.

I'll provide hot dogs... maybe even hamburgers. :D

Cut up a Coke can and wrap it around as a shim.

Unless of course it's a huge gap.

I'm getting a shim, but this is more than a Coke can, from a 1" threadless to 1 1/8" is a pretty good gap.
