I did pickup a quart of oil and an inline fuel
filter today. Should have picked up another
can of black paint. Maybe tomorrow.

Well most of today was spent changing the one bolt in
the clutch. It wasn't even a hardened bolt. i see why they
gave you another. Got the clutch bolted on with locktite
and the motor mounted. Had to drill out the plate to get
it to line up right with the rear sprocket. Measured that
a bunch of times to get it right. I figure its not something
you just throw on. Anyway its getting closer to finished.
Being unsure ,I'm going super slow to figure everything
out and not miss anything.

Still having breathing problems, but getting a little done
each day. Got the front brake hooked up. The chain cut and
on with the tensioner. Made the rubber mounts for the tank.
This silly thing has fought me every step of the way. Hope
to get a little more done tomorrow, If I feel well enough.

This is probably the dumbest thing I have gotten
mixed up with. Every time I think I have all the stuff
to finish...I need more locktite...or something. I was
doing good and all the breathing problems stopped for
a day, but then came back. Oh well I have lots of adjustments
to check even after I get it all together. He lives 250 miles
from me and can't come get it till the 19th so I have a while.
Maybe I can get it finished before then,

I understand these motor kits can be a major pita. Its best to take your time and do it right.

Heck I changed the air filter mount on mine because 2 flew off when riding.

I'm not sure what the vibration level is on these
so I made a rubber mount for the bottom and
also the gas tank. Just extra stuff , but will make me
feel better. Thinking about tacking the bottom strap
to the frame so it can't slid around. Just spitballing
I have gone past just bolting stuff on and trying to
find ways where it won't come loose or move. Kinda
over kill but it won't be where I can work on it again.
I would rather over engineer something and not worry.

Being a 4 stroke it shouldn't be too bad (from what I've seen about 1/2-3/4 the vibration of the 50cc 2 stroke kits)

But I agree for piece of mind better safe than sorry

My brotherinlaw is not quite as good with tools.
I needed to build this like it was for a newbie.
I'm hoping I can think of any problem that might
come up and fix it before it can cause him a problem.
If it was mine, I would have the ability to redo whatever
problem comes up. Him not so much. I think he will be happy
with it. Not too bad so far.

Looks good! Well, aside from that tank(always hated that tank!). Just tell him if he has any problems with it to give you a call.:banghead:
Glad too see you still messing with bikes even if it is only once and a while.

Thanks Sensor. I wouldn't have this even close to
a bike I owned. He just wants something to hold gas.
I may start begging a few of Chucks throwaways and
see how bad I can tear them up. Would be fun to spend
sometime on doing something. I can actually improve them
some as to looks. Well that is me just thinking. LOl

Getting closer. Have some small things to button
up, and splice the wires too. Maybe finish tomorrow.
Added a little red to the ugly tank.

That little bit of paint helped quite a bit. Looks a lot less like an afterthought.

I was going to paint the rack. Its stainless and he is planning
on using it, so it would scratch up really bad. Guess it will stay
natural.

How 'bout some cheap liquid bed liner? You can always use the leftovers to "gripify" a step bumper or something.

I have gone way beyond a simple build for him.
I'm about done on this one. He really wanted a
simple bike with a motor he could ride to work. I
kinda blew it out of proportion. Got kinda carried
away I guess.

Not sure why. It works on my wife's with windows 8 but not my
