What's with non bike people? What's so wrong about having a basement full of bike and bike parts. Some of you know the looks. The "have you lost your freaking mind" look upon walking down the stairs and seeing 30-40 bicycles of various vintage grip to grip and pedal to pedal. My wife just came home and saw four more bikes that I brought home. At least I am home, I could be out doing who knows what, but I'm not, I'm home tooling on an old bicycle in the garage. Maybe I have a sickness, I don't know. All I know is I amass a collection of bikes through various reasources. Ebay, salvation army, friends, garage sales, etc... with the best intentions of parting them out and making a buck, but no, I fall in love with them and can't let them go. I have bikes I haven't ridden in five years but there they set. Dusty, lonely even. "take me for a ride" "you know we had a lot of fun together" "When are you going to finish me?" Sometimes I think it might be easier to take the whole lump and throw it to the curb.

AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!

Did I just say that?

Woa, I feel better now. Thanks for letting me get that off my chest.

Ha Ha....I think many of us can relate.

I will say this though....a large pile of 20s in your hand feels pretty good too.

Right Hooch?

If you are throwin any to the curb, throw them far enough to his Idaho.

Start selling, it feels good to have more cash to buy more bikes. I look at it as a self perpetuating habit.

sometimes we must purge :)

Johnboy, You're not alone!. And it's just not bikes!
My father-in-law used to think I was crazy, maybe still does, because of the different things we collect. But one night sitting at the bar with him, playing pool and betting on the games, while downing beers, doing shots and doing the pull tab lottos, I explained that I could be spending lots of money and having nothing to show for it. He still thinks it's a waste of time and money collecting stuff. :? :|
Some people just don't get it and then there are those of us who get it alot and drag our brother- in-laws into it with us!

What ever you do (in this case collecting bikes) stay true to yourself. The ones who don't get it will someday see what's going on and realize they missed oiut on alot of fun! Those who don't are easier to talk out of their old stuff!

hello
my name is Bernard and i'm a BIKEOHOLIC!

:D

ive had to make sure i dont let things get too outta hand, i make sure i dont have any more than 4 projects in the works at any given time, which means i only take on new parts, not new projects. when "new" bikes are given to me i dissassemlbe them quickly, ONLY keeping what i know i will use, organising the kept parts, and throw the rest away quickly. i also rebuild and donate which is a tax write off, and the bikes go to ppl who can use them via a local not for profit or thrift stores. ppl get customised bikes for very lil or no money, i also got some 3'deep bx 4' wide industrial shelves which will consolidate everything in my garage to one 3'x8.5' "bike wall" - it will take up much less space and ill still have some shelving for more stuff!!!! soon there will be room in my double car garage for my tiny lil kia rio!
fast eddie outty

ps, it all started innocently enough, an old bike here, a throw away there....before i knew it i couldnt stop, i was taking in 3, 4, sometimes 7 bikes a week!

Ford trucks. I have a 52 panel, a 58 pickup, and a 68 pickup right now. I've had a 48, a 51, a 76, an 85, and an 86 as well. And Records (vinyl) I have several. Not as many as I used to have ,I sold my collection to my buddy, but I kept my favorites.
