Awesome, what do you use for the wiring?
Telephone line cord wire. I strip the insulation. Drill holes with a micro drill and inset the bare copper wire with a dot of CA glue. Then I paint as needed.
Here is my rat version of Big Daddy's Beatnik Bandit ( my favorite custom of all time )

Little progress made on the Rat Rod model. I decided the engine just wasn't butch enough so I swapped it out for one from a Nascar model. Did a little sanding to expose some of the green underneath.

Here's a 1:18 scale mustang that I modified a little just to fit the diorama I am building.

And one of my favorite 1:18 scale cars a 1949 mercury chop top lead sled. Also have a 1:64 scale that is identical.

Sweet,bigger is better.
Yeah that's my thinking too, I collect mostly 1:18 and 1:24 scale. If I had more money I'd collect 1:1 scale.

I been bored the last few days so I broke out the two models that have been waiting. I would have finished my Porsche but I am out of black and it just wouldn't look right any other color. Here's a few pics of the progress. The paddy wagon is as complicated as it looks, also the instructions were lost so I did it blind. Years of model building and being a mechanic help tremendously. Still have a few odds and ends to put on but that's later.

Dash was a little too chrome in the kit so I thought I'd bring a little body color inside

Done

I didn't like how the exhaust ran right next to the frame rails so I held them over a candle and re-worked them to come out behind the wheels. Also lots of tedious hand painting of chrome.

I forgot to take any progress shots of the paddy wagon but here's some finished pics

Yes the pinstripe decals are a pain to get right. I think it came out okay

Looks cozy in there don't it?

...cool kits...red and chrome always look good together! painting the fine chrome lines is VERY tedious...ever experiment with Bare Metal Foil? especially for the script work...you can even paint over it then lightly burnish off the paint to show the chrome off

Yeah...Im an "Ol' Glue Sniffer" since I was 4 years old.My lungs are now rainbow colored from too many spray bombs.

Anybody else ever build a Model Car of thier own Car?

I built my '64 Dodge 330 Super/Stock clone with too much detail.

I've done that on a few of my old cars, my '62 Corvair rustbucket "Casper" was my favorite, My Blazer which had to be created from kit-bashing a S-10 and a typhoon together. I wish they would make more models of some oddball stuff that I have owned though. For example my '66 International 1200 series pickup, Volkswagen Rabbit convertible, or even my old 1970 Jeep Jeepster Commando pickup.
