Hopefully this weekend. My son came to visit over the 4th and working out of town during the week makes it hard to work on. I have gathered a few parts for it . I am planning on doing some paint work by the end of this weekend if all goes well. Thanks for motivating me along

Although I haven't gotten much more work done on it yet this weekend, I did manage to hunt down a few parts.
picked up some old odyssey bmx parts. A seat post clamp with cable holder due to the brake I'm going to use and a seat mount that i will use on the end of the layed back seat post I'm going build.
Also got some short fenders. Not sure if I'll use them but they were cheap at the bike store, lol.
Bought some brooks natural cambium seat and grips. They go good with the off white tires and the canvas and rivets gives that old look while still mixing my new with old and flowing together.

I mocked the seat for a look but will build a lay back seat post to position it better. Still not sure what bars ill use. Hopefully I get some time tomorrow to do a little hands on work.

Well with my son being here for the month and me working out of town during the workweeks, finishing this bike is going to be tough due to me wanting to spend as much time as I can with him but I'm confident that I will.
Although I have the capabilities to professionally paint this bike I'm going to use bomb can paint. I was able to spend a little time this morning getting the parts in primer. I took the bike home and my pullers are at the shop so i had to mask the crank for now . I'll remove them before paint. I will load the parts with me and do what I can during the week in the evening at the hotels.

I saw that poppy red today. Can't wait to see it pop on your bike.

I was able to get most of the paint work done this weekend. All the parts are painted. Showing a pic of the tank so you get an idea of what the bike will look like. I'll let the parts bake in the sun and do some little touch ups tonight then reassemble next weekend... can't wait!
I love the satin red with the gloss black and cream. Still gotta put some lettering on the tank and guard. Just gotta figure out what I want on there if any.

Tank looks good.

Sweet paint!

Well I ordered a schwinn decal kit to put on the tank and for the round schwinn decal in the chain guard. As I was applying the decals I got the idea to try and modify the black phantom decal and make it say Phantom X. I cut pieces of the word black to make the x. This way it keeps a schwinn name and represents build off ten. therefore the name change Phantom X .

You may also notice that my paint job is a little diferent than normal on it. I changed up the way the two tone is usually layed out. I just went off of pics on the net to figure out close where the graphics went.

I added the Pitbull rear brake and brake lever ( still have to run the cable )

I took most of the pieces to the bike and did them satin black. Things like the ends of the brooks grips, seat rails, stem, front spring, fork hardware, etc. I left a few pieces shiny and aluminum to add some contrast. I found some black pedals at a local bike shop. That's about it for today. Try to get a little more done tomorrow.....
