Back from the lake but already late for the neighbors BBQ...

But as the clock is ticking... up on the stand with my actual project:

And off with anything possibly obstructing the first task:

I have to get rid of this:

And the rear wheel needs some attention too:

But now off to the BBQ...

Good morning RRB. After a busy night comes a busy morning...

After some serious wacking with my biggest wrench (forgot my hammer at home...) the old bottom bracket literally shot out and gave way for the new one (coming from my backup frame)

Almost all the plastik I already drilled out the last time I tried this

The big wrench

To be continued tomorrow....

I kind of wanted to see what a Swiss BBQ looked like.

In fact it was a German one and believe me there was nothing special to it...
A grill, some meat, some salad, some drinks and a lot of talking ;-)

No real progress today. Had to finally get a new Berlin license plate for the car. And as everything official in Germany it took much longer than expected. Back at the camping site I took the time to clean and reorganize the awning to be able to use it as workshop. I think it was worth the effort...

After the kids were finally asleep, I did some midnight wrenching (it's about one in the morning now and still around 25℃).
Here is where I stopped for tonight. That part pile starts to look like a bike again...

Goodnight!

This morning, while the temperature was still bearable, I went at it again.
I mixed together parts from three different shifting sets to make this one work and had to fab a little bracket to fix the shifter to the frame (never had the bottom part of that shifter...)

As I didn't want to cut down the fork, I had to improvise here as well :)

This little toolbox will work as a battery compartment for the blue EL-wire (aka underfloor frame lights)

I finally managed to get myself a rider.

When there's no one who tells you what's to do next (aka wife) you can get done some serious bike wrenching in no time... [emoji16][emoji16][emoji16]

That's why I dig my BACK40 shed. It's like taking a vacation only 30 secs from my house. And, unless she sneaks up on me without announcing her arrival ( yeah, like that NEVER happens :envy::bigsmile:)
I pretty much have my undivided attention!

Yeah, I really would love to have something like that in my backyard. The car drive to the campground takes around 45 minutes. That's too far off to go there for some afterwork wrenching during the week, and most of our weekends are planned through or reserved for various activities...

One idea I keep tossing around in my head, is to build a mobile bike workshop into an old horse trailer. My wife thinks I'm crazy, but don't all when it comes to our bikes? [emoji23]

sounds like a good idea to me

It's that time of the day again, when I stop wrenching, sit down with a beer in one hand, candles on the table and my bike lurking next to me in the dark...

And there it is:

988ac21d4b02bbe301bda3dd9e0fc1dd.jpg

Chainguard on, seatpost with the appropriate diameter, rearlight mounted, brake adjusted and a front tire that's holding its air...
As always, I had to tinker a bit here and there, but it rides really nice and smooth!
Electrics for the lights will have to wait, but besides that, I could almost call it done, as there is no paint job planned.
Detail shots will be provided, when there is daylight again...
Good night!
