Re: Craigslist nightmares and dreams... funny stories

What the heck is that!?! Nothing on that bike makes sense or applies to the "repro 1989 schwinn phantom" title.

-Lowrider "twisted" springer.
-Alloy SS chainguard
-steam punk headlight
-cut cowboy boot mud flap
-etc...

Re: Craigslist nightmares and dreams... funny stories

Yeah. Even funnier, his reply to my email calling him on his bs

Re: Craigslist nightmares and dreams... funny stories

a 1989 Schwinn Phantom was a chrome BMX type bike.. this looks nothing like it.

This is located in the California central valley, 'bout an hour from me. IMHO, there seems to be a higher than normal percentage of folks living with "ItsaSchwinn! derangement syndrome" there.

Here's an ad I can appreciate, short and to the point: http://tampa.craigslist.org/pnl/bik/3665657041.html

Bet "Jerry,:" wouldn't see the humor in it!

Jerry was Gary's "not so well known" older brother who never amounted to much in his parent's eyes after the shadow from the younger brother was cast in the bicycle empire. Jerry tried to achieve approval from his parents by setting out to produce his own line of bikes, but balsa wood frames were, and still are, way ahead of their time. Their weight savings were amazing, until the rider mounted one and things usually did not go well. For the riders with the ability to ride them without splintering one, the issue lied in the pedigree of the wood used, for on the first little jump the bike would take to flight like those little dime store planes. Just like the planes, the flights were spectacular, but the landings left something to be desired. The impending lawsuits never helped Jerry's image in his parent's eyes.
Bahahahaha, funniest post eveh!

Re: Craigslist nightmares and dreams... funny stories

I'd say if that is legitimately an apple picker NIB, then that is a great deal based on the prices you see on eBay.
