Didn't think id make it into the build in time...wish I had time to paint and fancy it up before the end but want to make it into the buildoff before its too late so here it goes. I have been riding friends tallbikes here and there and been meaning to build one for myself to ride to work since its only 1/4 of a mile and would like to be more visable riding down busy Mckinney St. (and its fun to roll a tallbike into a CPS office:)).

Started on it this saturday night and worked through the night...was a pretty simple process...ill let the pictures explain the process, if you have any questions id love to try and answer them :)

This is how it looked around 2am Sunday morning...the pedals I picked up from my scrap bin wouldn't fit and I grabbed two different width chains so our test ride involved rolling down the driveway and coasting downhill....but....it was a sucess :).

On Sunday night I found some pedals and a different crankset that I approved of a little more than the fugly one the murray frame had on it so swapped them out and slapped on the pedals and rigged up the chain. I had to pull the derailler off my road bike to get the job done since I couldn't get the tension right withought a halflink but I wanted to replace that on my road bike anyways so now I have to :). These pictures are of my roomate and neighbor taking it for a spin on Monday morning :)

Not just tall but brakeless too! Jeebus Crust! Yous Amercins has many testostercahones! (Either that or no brains).

brakes shmakes...... :p

i always say "brake on a tall bike is just proof of your fear of commitment."

HAHA you guys are all hillarious. If you pay attention when you ride generally you know when your going to need to brake so thats when your reach back and put your foot on the tire...works even better than cheap caliper brakes...but yeah...you definately have to pay attention when your riding. Thanks for the comments.

So took it out and rode around 20 miles this saturday...we had a community group ride to a new coffe shop for some hot cocoa followed by shop where I swapped out some parts like the front wheel, pedals, and added a front brake...was an awesome day :)

how exactly do you stop on a tallbike? ive never gotten it.. do you stop at a light pole or stopsign, and hang on, then shove off? :|

ah. makes sense. so if you fall be sure to fall sideways with both legs on one side. :D
