Basic bike is together, not sure about bars and pedals. I still need to work with tank. I think I'll try to keep the fog light batteries in the tank. If that doesn't work out I have another cookie press that will work. Commander hood ornament in place. A few shots of work so far.

Great look! Really like the unique colors....going with black grips...? Love the fenders and tires and the "hubcap" on the back! Looks like it would be a great rider...

Love the fenders, love the seat, love the light! :113:
Great bike...

Luke.
Thanks for the bike love!

Glad you like what you are seeing. Probably black coke bottle grips, I'm not sure about the bars though. I'd actually like to find another pair of moons for the front. The front wings rattle too much.

Played with the tank fit this AM. I cut a filler out of my laminated cork flooring to fill a gap, actually 2 to get one that fit. The tank is most likely from a 24" Evans bike. Anyway added the filler which is held in place by compression of the two tank halves. Also made another shim out of old aluminum film cans for the seat post.

I have a "special" nameplate on the way and a Tail light. I may be getting close to calling this EvansColson Special Commander done via the KISS principle. I continue to appreciate the comments and critiques.
This one is waiting in the wings.

The tank filler piece is a good fix for the gap, but it seems to draw my attention to it instead of divert my attention. I'm thinking that if you painted it flat or matte black, it would help it to disappear. There's enough other black parts around it to make it blend in also. Just a thought.

Lookin' good!

+1. Little flat black would do the trick on that.

Just now seeing this build. Killer looking bike. Love that finish on the frame, the wheels, chain guard and tank. Really coming together nicely.

Original thought was that the rough texture of the cork would blend in with frame. I guess too little of it ended up being exposed. Thanks RM.

Well I took the filler out and shot it with some satin black that I had on hand. Waiting on it to dry. Thanks for the kudos.
I also cleaned up the kickstand and bolted it back on.

I think it's the light color of the filler that is drawing attention to the gap you are trying to disguise. Try painting it the color of the frame.

Chainguard nameplate arrived today...hope it fits.

When new I'm assuming that this Evans bike was an "Evans Special" model or maybe an "Evans Commander" model. The chainguard which was sourced from Utah was separate from this bike frame. The tank was also obtained independently.
A few potential nameplate locations are shown below...

I like the first pic, looks like it belongs at top and front.

I like it just above the chainring, below the white line.

Kinda like to see pics of it on there from further away.
I'm somewhat in agreement with you. I looked through my shots but I didn't take a wide view of the plate centered over the chainring and below the white. Here is a view of the whole guard but with the plate over the white.
