Noob question. If a guy could find one of these what would one expect to pay? Is it something worth owning?

I've only ever seen them on ebay, and they usually are asking $800-1600. This is the only recent one to sell:

Well, they are worth more selling than owning...but, I'd like to own one

I think they are cool in their own way. Unique, only made a couple years, totally rideable. And now I think their age helps the cool factor too.

I have one i rescued from an apartment basement cleanout a few years ago. almost everything was roached. stripped all parts and tossed the cabling, shifters/brake levers, derailleurs and it was missing the seat. wheelset is good enough to clean up, true and roll. seatpost and stem seized in to the bike. the frame is ok. no dings or dents but has some scratches and knicks and has a spattering of road line paint on the undercarriage. i was going to fix up to ride, but i'm thinking of selling the frame/fork by itself to fund other projects.

I remember scouring ebay for one BITD on eBay when they were still reasonable price but they got snapped up quick.
