well, i want to paint the cups, but they're chrome so im thinking i should glass bead them with all the rest of the stuff im doing. i know not to paint the insides (duh), but do you think the glass beading of the insides will effect performance much? i kinda doubt it will with an ample supply of grease, but i thought id ask your opinions!

thanks again, you guys are a big help.

I would leave well enough alone.
I know when I am Media Blasting I mask off all areas that I don't want to hit!

I don't think bead blasting them will do much unless your trying to remove pitting and corrosion..
and in that case, will the glass bead give the substrate
a nice polished finish....????

The bearings are more sensitive than you think.
small amounts of pitting or scratches on a bearing can make it nasty!

so if the Race face is bumpy....it may pre-maturally wear the bearings..

I haven't had access to a glass beader so I don't know..
If it's going to leave any bumps, pits, etc in the Race Face I wouldn't do it.

just my 2 cents..1.75 cents Canadian

they're pretty new and have no rust, im more wanting to bead blast em so i can paint them, cause painting over chrome doesnt work ;)

just skuff up the Chrome..
and use an Acid Etch Primer..
It should stick great..

look at The Front Fender on my RRBBO..
I acid etched primed it..
and the Top coat stuck like "Schyt to a blanket!"

thanks for the help, i appreciate it a lot. i like having as many opinions as possible on something before i kick myself. research research research.

i never thought about the etching thing.

that gives me other ideas! :) watch out!

thanks again!
