How can I make my Schwinn OCC String Ray into a 3 or 5 Speed?

I picked up my Schwinn OCC Sting Ray from the local Goodwill about 3 weeks ago and it is turning out to be a pretty sweet and i'd love to take it out for longer rides. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Here is a pic of the bike, would also love to find the original bars and seat, but that's different thread.

Sorry guys we got a little bit off topic, I have been to that website and sent them a email a little before thanksgiving but never got an answer back, also I prefer the looks of the oler style shifter and the price tag on it looks a little bit painful. It's not out of the question, I'm just feeling around for what's out there.
