As some of you know I am a big fan of Indian motor cycles have built a couple of cycle versions,
The Worlds Slowest Indian.

And the Worlds lowest Indian.

Haven't got the Indian bug out of me just yet, love the old boardtrackers so being 2014 I thought I
would build myself a 1914 Indian Board Tracker with a few twists which I will reveal later. Also a bit
of a tribute to a couple of my downunder building buddies who inspire me, yep a bit of bro luv!

Really liked the style of Glen's recent build the Glenderson and Luke the Jokers racing mini velo, so
thought I would mix the two and go for an old school racer.
Glen's Glenderson.

Luke The Jokers Mini Velo.

First twist she will be change-able from boardtracker to traditional, couple of pic's I found.

Pile of parts from my stash a bike scraps, can you see a boardtracker in there?

Drew up some plans, size determined by forks and the rear triangle and of course 26'rims.

Have a roller, bit more welding to do then bondo, primer and get her ridable.

Here are the boardtracker drop bars, have to be cut down yet.

The joining tubes I always thought would be a problem, had to get these as close as possible
as the drop bars are what makes a boardtracker. Sort of stumbled across a simple solution
which has worked really well, cut and welded four handle bar stems.

Combining your skillset with inspiration from Luke and Glenn, this build is destined to be a classic!

Got this thing semi bondo-ed and primed over the weekend, she is a rider as well,
rides better than I thought especially with the straight bars.

Here she with the board tracker bars.

Looking good!
Love the way you did the trusses on the fork, simple and clean!
I think the traditional look is winning me over the Boardtrack for some reason, maybe it is my bad back screaming at me that it doesn't like drop bars? :21:

Luke.

That style of track bars always intrigued me, but I love them big straight bars!

Carl.

Twist number two, twist throttle with a front hub electric brushless motor,
so good so far can get around 35Kph (22mph) only fitted yesterday so haven't
really given her a good run.

Plan is to hide the battery behind a fake tank.

So was going to use some plumbing pipe for the fake tank, too much curve,
so went down another track, more complex, more work but turned out okay.

Cut the fuel filler and pressure pump from an old primus kerosene stove, yep
bit of a sin to cut the old gem up but I have another mint one, a greater cause!

This thing was a bit more complex than first meets the eye, wanted it to look
authentic but had to get around the battery and still be able to charge it. Made
the whole thing so it can be removed four screws takes each side off.

I live pretty isolated so have to make stuff with what's at hand 2mm ply glued,
screwed and clamped around the curve of the internal frame, then fill sand paint.

Didn't polish up the brass too much wanted to retain the patina look.

The top straps are for clamping pipe under a house perfect size for the job.

Just catching up on this build. Wicked work man!

That tank is awesome! Any plans to camouflage the "dashboard" ?
A bit of tin or a half of a soupcan as a streamline? Obviously you need to see it from the seat, but from the front and sides something else would be cool. Maybe a flip top... Lets us know how she rides, I've been contemplating an eMotor for one of mine too!

Carl.

Thanks Kingfish and GuitarCarl got a few surprises for her as the title says with a twist or two!

Been plodding away with my replica Indian boardtracker made up some fenders, have painted up and fitted the boardtrack handle bars and she rides great like this. Also managed to squeeze in a front brake set-up, yep I know not so genuine but she is heavy and with only back pedal brakes she needs a bit of help to pull her up!
