If you pull the crank and look at markings that might confirm as well.

I'm trying to replace the rims for this bike with something as close to original as possible. Does anyone know what specs I should be looking for?
Did the Prewar DX come with the tubular rims, S-2's, S-7's? What diameter / width?

Any help is appreciated!

Maybe I should just go with some painted S-7's....

Drop-center rims, probably painted.

Diameter is that of 26in nominal tires, 559mm

Width is about 36mm to the outsides

...probably just like the ones pictured on it.

S-7 rims didn't come out till around 1955

Yeah. I figured someone would call me out on that.
Unfortunately, between two moves with the bike disassembled the rims are missing. :(
(I never claimed to be the brightest guy in the world)
I did save the hubs though, and would like to lace them into some replacement rims.
Thanks for the info, I will look around to see what's out there.
There's a really nice set on ebay for 540 bucks. (About $500 out of my price range.)

Finally pulled the cranks... They are doglegged on one side and looking around the net, the chain ring looks like a Wald.

Do these numbers mean anything to anyone?

The superbowl got boring so I decided to finish painting the frame / forks.
I went with a Brown primer and Cream gloss.

I don't think the fork darts are accurate to the era. I just had some extra stencils left over from another project.

Should I move this over to the 'Builds' forum?
