Re: LocoJoe's Most Recent Ride (Southwind)

On my way home from Chanute I stopped in Humboldt to ride the new Southwind Rail Trail. It's a little over 6 miles in length and is a new extension to the existing Prairie Spirit trail which is 50+ miles long.

Re: LocoJoe's Most Recent Ride (Ride & Storm)

I got a ride in last Thursday. Rode to a near-by town and back for 23 miles. The high that day was 104. I about died.

Burnt wheat field. Video I took of the fire 2 days prior http://youtu.be/SCaM1WSoBR0

Little barn and windmill.

Then the storm hit that night and I've been busy cleaning up ever since. I've heard varying reports that the winds were anywhere from 89 to 94mph. I think the other local RRB guys got damage as well. Here's a video of winds my Mother took at there house near by http://youtu.be/TszwTkntPYY

Our house under fallen limbs.

Fence damage. Also had a little damage to roof and gutters.

Just some of the limbs after 2 days of clean up.

Re: LocoJoe's Most Recent Ride (Ride & Storm)

Yikes on the temps and yikes on the storm damage.

I guess it's a good thing your roof survived.

Re: LocoJoe's Most Recent Ride (Ride & Storm)

I didn't see your house in the first picture until I read the caption. Wow, glad you're ok.

Re: LocoJoe's Most Recent Ride (Ride & Storm)

Sorry to hear about the storm and fire damage
Really like the picture of the windmill and the small barn though
Hope you get things cleared up okay

Re: LocoJoe's Most Recent Ride (Post Storm Ride)

Thanks all for the replies.
In the 20+ years we've lived in the house we've had 3 tornadoes pass with in a mile or less of us and now this. This storms tree damage is far worse than previous tornadoes but I think our house damage may be less this time.

Rode the bike path here in town for the first time since the storm. Figured I'd better take the beast to be able to ride over all the storm debris but the city already had the path cleared of the big stuff.

Just a little of the damage I viewed from the path.

On the left are limbs drug to the curb to be picked up.

Sign blown off it's post. I know what you might be thinking... and no.

More downed trees and limbs. This scene is just repeated over and over.

Who doesn't get a kick out of seeing porta potties tipped over?

Path cleared.

If it was me, the picture posted would have been of it hanging in my garage.

Great pics Randy!
I like the bike in the field one, it has this cool tension to it
No-handed means freedom!!

Re: LocoJoe's Most Recent Ride (Misc. Rides)

I love the mouth operated horn and the non-AMD Star chainring on this one.
