Amazing. The frontrunner in the voting still accounts for less than 10% of the total votes cast. Of course, with the system currently in place, even if EVERYBODY had thrown a vote his way, he'd still only get 33.333%. Looks like 2nd place is the real race - only 2 votes difference at this point.

I just want to say that this whole vote thing has been a very humbling experience, I built my bike like I was going to win and I was confident that I would do a lot better in the voting, but I am a pretty confident person. Now that I see and understand the mechanics of the voting, my 9 votes mean a lot less than the comments, views, and following of my build thread. In the end, someone has to win, and though the winners will have less than 10% of the vote, it just affirms for each of them that they are the winner and affirms for the rest of us that we are all winners because in the lower vote-getter category there isn't a huge spread of points, you really can't say anyone lost.
I just want to thank everyone again for this experience, I feel like as builders and build followers we have gotten closer together and know each other a bit more and there are now over 100 bikes that I hope were built for riding and personal enjoyment that have risen from rust to glory. How 'bout we all do this again next year? :mrgreen:

I just typed this over on herr_rudolf's finished bike thread and thought it might be worth sharing here:
This bike is great, but the only think that makes it a rat is it's dumpster past. I agree on their being separate classes (rat rod, hot rod, restore, refinish, revive, survive, city bike, klunker, muscle, etc...) but it would just get out of hand. Basically everyone is on a site called "Rat Rod Bikes" so we're kind of stuck with it, which is fine by me, I built a ratty bike. I'm thinking next year everyone vote like they normally do but everyone leave their own "awards" in the comments on the vote thread, like:

Bike I'd most like to ride in the city: Singlespeed HotRod
Bike that should've been sold in bike stores officially licensed by Hanna-Barbera: Scooby Snack
Bike most likely to give me nightmares: Labotomy
Best complilation build: Speed Demon
Best Pinstriping: Kidney Stew (even though you didn't finish)
etc...
This could be alot of fun and if my name ended up on one of these lists it would sure mean alot more to me than a click of a mouse in the bubble beside my build's name.

Hey that makes sense. I was just thinking out loud. It seems like the rat bikes were outnumbered 5 to 1 so I thought it would be cool to bring in other classes or awards. I dunno, just lots of talent, creativity and fabrication that doesn't "fit" into the build off class of rats. Anyway I am blown away at the bikes this year and even more at seeing how many votes I am getting. I was shooting hard for top three and I guess I got it. Thanks everyone who has been a part of the build-off whether it be the RRB staff, the builders or the many people who followed and voted.
I'm going with total rust next year. All rat & all patina. :mrgreen: Not gonna waste time & money on paint! Rust is my middle name (not really)! :lol: It is my favorite color though!
