Hey all,

I'm in the process of building a bike for my daughter and I'm starting with this bike I got on craigslist. The guy told me it's a Monark 16" Rocket girls bike from the 40's and 50's but I'm having a hard time confirming. Can anyone help identify this? Thanks.

Re: My first vintage rebuild

are they solid rubber tires?

guessing 60's era, and its got a rocket on the chainguard. :) :p :D

Re: My first vintage rebuild

Yes, they're solid rubber Firestone tires. There's a rocket on the chainguard and the seat post tube has a checkerboard pattern.

Re: My first vintage rebuild

Hmmm, it doesn't really have any Monark characteristics. Tough call on such a tiny ride, it looks like a tricycle type handlebar and fork. Neat though, I bet fixed up it'll put a big smile on your Lil Girl! -Adam

Thanks for your replies. I have done some more research and I'm closer to thinking it's maybe a Murray not a Monarch but I'm still not sure. I posted more pictures to help ID this thing so if you have any ideas let me know. Thanks again.
