hi guys,

lifer in bikes. Started riding when I was 5 and am still going 45 years later.

currently have 70, 80, 90? bikes? Who counts? not me.
My wife has at least 10 of her own so I don't get too many complaints. She rides a lot more than me these days.

Quite a odd collection of bikes. folders, mtbs, cruisers, old schwinns, tandems, side by side tandem, PPV, racing bikes, touring bikes, and lotsa junk. I can't pass by a bike on the curb on trash day and I my daily commute used to go by 2 Goodwill stores.

I oversee bike racing in Iowa as well.
Been a referee for about 20 years. Now at a national A rating.
Used to race until I got married and started a 28 mile daily commute (car).
Took my mom to USAC nationals last year where we got a silver in our tandem age group in the time trial.
34 consecutive years riding Ragbrai. (youngest to do all of them)
I built a few bikes but my brass brazing (& welding) is so bad I gave that up.
Organized about 27 races to date. Mostly cyclocross & time trials.
Organized a series of vintage/cruiser bike rides, Next one is July 4 in cedar rapids, iowa, downtown at green square park at 1 pm.
Lead the annual Cedar Valley Tour each july from Hiawatha, Iowa to Waterloo, Iowa.
Riden across about 10 states so far on my goal of 48 different states.
Worked my way thru college in a bike shop.
Co-organize the toughest running event around - 5 distances in 1 morning: 5 km, 100 yards, 440, 1 mile, 10 mile.

Now flying a desk for medical research.
