Starting with this, picked it up on my birthday last fall and have barely done anything yet:

Going to do it up boardtracker style. Nothing too special.

Re: RoadMaster Diesel

Roadmaster Diesel and the decal on the chainguard remind of
original.aspx

Re: RoadMaster Diesel

"Roadmaster Deisel" The subject-line sounds rad already!
Sounds like you could tour the nation as a hip hop artist riding that thing and calling yourself the same name.
It's gonna be nice! Great choice!

Re: RoadMaster Diesel

I've been collecting parts for a while, trying to keep it cheap but still get the look I want.
Luckily the look I wanted was ratty, so those parts were cheap :)

Right now my wheel choice is between these two sets:

Roadmaster rims, New Departure hubs, coat of white house paint, faint hint of pin stripe underneath.

Lobdell rims, New Departure hubs, coat of paint over crusty rim. Might paint black.

Might go skiptooth, I can swap out the sprockets on the wheels, whichever rims I choose.
Thought about going 3-speed, but would need a coaster hub as there are no brake mounts.
Going to keep it simple, and cheap.

The most money I have invested into this project right now is in some fresh rubber:

I've been wanting a set of these for a while.

Otherwise, this has been a relatively cheap project for which to collect parts.
I got the base bike dirt cheap from my buddy Kilmore, a "friend price" because it was my birthday.

This headbadge was dirt cheap on the bay because it was filthy. I cleaned it up a little.

This seatpost was cheap because it's bent:

I am going to see if I can get the bend out or chop it at the bend.

Going to pull this seat off my Luxury Liner because I found a decent black replacement for cheap.

Pulled these bars off of a little girl's skiptooth bike in a scrap-metal pile.

They were mounted the other way on the girl's bike, but I am going for racing stance here.

got this JC Higgins coffin tank for a very fair price from Joe when I bought the tank for the Navigator. (Thanks again!)

It will just barely fit in the CWC frame.

And now, a rough mock-up, of sorts...

more like a "prop-up" but this is the general idea. I think I'll also want to go with a beefier fork.

much more to come...

By the way, I am very impressed with all the other builds so far, this is an exciting build-off to be a part of!

Re: RoadMaster Diesel

That is gonna look sick. Can't wait.

Re: RoadMaster Diesel

Great start Joey! I'd mount the tires and call it done, but your more creative than that!

Re: RoadMaster Diesel

I've been stuck at this point for weeks. Got the bike mostly torn down, got the fender bobbed, headbadge attached.
But I can't get the fork off because of a stubborn stem bolt.

First I couldn't turn it with a wrench, started stripping it, so I got out the vice grips, and could only back it out a little at a time, with much difficulty. I bathed it in WD-40 then PB Blaster. I pounded on the bolt and I can't get the wedge at the bottom to budge. I am about 2 seconds away from grabbing the hacksaw and sacrificing the stem to get the fork off, unless someone can give me a good reason not to...
