Lemme know if I can help- besides all of the traditional colors, I’ve got bright orange and bright green ball end grips. Also have off white and grey. How about sparkle silver coke grips? And of course black leather seats (browns are sold out).

If interested look me up on eBay as seller ijt64

Thanks OJ. I have thought about using a lot of red, but since so many have used red with these bikes, I'm kinda wanting to use a different accent color. Haven't quite figured out what that other color will be though. [emoji16]

Yeah, I hear ya. Make it your own, Andy. Somehow, the silver / chrome frames always look good with a color that really stands out. Blue, red, yellow, orange. One that really pops.

That Murray liner chrome is strong stuff and the factory clear that they added was tough as heck. It doesn't surprise that the chrome came out as good as it did for you.
Whenever I read your build name I think of rAstro from the Jetsons trying to say "Lost is Space".

Been visiting our son and daughter-in-law the last few days. He graduated Thursday with a degree in Forestry Management Technology. Now to get back to work on my Build Off bike!

Congratulations to you and your Son!

 the forest management degree focus! We need to take good care of what natural resources we have; 'they' aren't making any more!

RaT oN~!

Not much getting done this week so far. This evening I disassembled the rear hub on the Huffy Good Vibrations wheel set. From what I can tell the bike must have been from the '80's based on the Shimano D type rear hub.
The hub cleaned up nicely inside and out. I slathered the innards with some synthetic high temp wheel bearing grease and put it back together. Once the front hub is serviced I will pull the old tires and shine up the rims.

So tonight I cleaned and lubed the front hub and removed the old tires from each rim. Nasty, nasty, nasty. Chunks of the old bead stuck to the inside of the rim. And a whole lot of "wonderful" rust was lurking inside the rims, especially the back one. Ugh.
So just in case those rims are too far gone, I rooted out the original rims from last year's build off bike. Blue rims and black hubs. And nowhere near as much rust as the ones I was planning to use.
Mocking the wheels up to see what the blue looks like with the chrome. Kinda liking the blue. Dug out a flame slick and popped it on the back wheel for looks (no tube). Really liking that. Not where I had been going, but like I said, I'm listening to what the bike tells me...

More blue rim madness tonight. Mounted a 26x2.125 flame tread tire on the rear and a 2x2.0 from my Electra on the front. Boy, was I surprised.
The rims are wider than the Electra rims so I figured the tire would be a little shorter. The flame tire being an eighth of an inch wider, I expected it to a bit taller and wider than the front tire. Nope. They are both the same size. 2" across and 26.5 tall. Who'd a thunk it. Might just put the other Electra tire on back.

Threw some parts on the frame to mock it up again. Too bad Tom Slick's gravity race is over...

The blue is perfect with the chrome! And, there are quite a few blue anodized parts / goodies out there on the internets.

Flame tire looks good in the rear. I liked the bobbed fender look with it; just enough to make it look PHAT!

Kinda lost my way the last few days. Real life can be a nuisance sometimes. [emoji16]

Been hashing out the design of the tank I want to make. Something to pay homage to the original "7" tank that was MIA when I bought the bike, but I don't want to try to make a reproduction of it. Also need a way to incorporate the idea I have for headlights into the tank.

Still imagineering the design, but here's where I'm at now.
