Sachs torpedo 3 speeds?

Anyone have any info to share on these hubs?
I bought one on ebay just to see how it goes. It looks liek the seller has a couple more, wondering if they were worth stocking up on.

I have 2 of them, one coaster brake 3 speed model from a 1978 Emory women's bike, and one 3 speed on my 2001 Bike E. They both shift smoother than a Sturmey Archer.

They are nice. Finding the proper shift cable and indicator rods can be challenging if they are missing. Some of the new SRAM stuff works if you can find it.

I agree with Wildcat about the shifting. Smooth. I have a 2-speed kickback coaster on my Swedish folder. I have a couple of 3-speedss loose and another on a Danish ladies bike. The're keepers.

Theirs.
Those hubs need the correct shifter to function proper.
That could be a problem but worth the effort.

Yep, it has to be Sachs parts all the way.

I also like how well they shift while stopped.

I thought a SA chain might work, but the Sachs is slightly smaller.

I have a torpedo 2 speed auto I really like. Sachs are rock solid hubs

i have a sachs jet coaster hub, its the coolest little hub iver ever gotten! amazing stopping power for sure.

Check out ebay for International sellers. I remember seeing some shifters and parts in France and Germany a while back. The prices and freight seemed pretty reasonable too.
I bought a Duomatic (probably from the same seller), and it's great. I've put a lot of miles on mine, so I pulled it down for a service a couple of weeks ago.......shouldn't have wasted my time, all I ended up doing was repacking the outer bearings, but they would have been fine as they were.
