I recently built this bike with my son as his first build. I’d had the frame and the Schwinn Magalloy by Lester wheels laying around for years. My son recently started showing interest in bikes, so we drug all the stuff out and got started on it.

Here was what we started with.

After we started sanding, we realized that the frame was originally red and the wheels and fender were yellow. The fork and handlebars were the only thing that originally came black, but my son felt the original colors looked too “McDonalds”, to which I agreed. We came close to going back yellow with the wheels, but my son wanted to “murder it out”.

This was how it would have looked when new.

The end result turned out pretty nice. We sanded everything and we polished the outer lip on the mags. I sprayed everything black, and then clear coated the wheels to help hopefully keeping the outer lip from corroding. The headbadge was missing when I got the bike, so I used one I’d had stored back for years off a ‘63 Schwinn Collegiate. We rounded out the look with pair of old fat 20 x 2.35” Mongoose tires.

Nice team work on that bike! The paint looks great. And fattie tires, as our friend on here @kingfish254 is known to say, "Mo fatta, mo betta!"

One hint on posting photos. After they get uploaded to your post, click on the 'Full image' when you are ready to add them to your post. That way they will be displayed as a photo and not just a thumbnail.

Here's one of yours in 'full size'.....

Thanks and thanks for tips on posting pictures. I used to link all my pictures here on Photobucket years ago, so I wasn’t familiar with the attachment process.

As far as builds, yes I actually have several going on, including building myself a full size 26” version of this bike. https://www.ratrodbikes.com/forum/i...y-schwinn-strandie-build.110782/#post-1131105
and a 26” muscle bike build.

I’m going to enter this ratty ‘64 Strato Flyer for the RRBBO15. I’ve had it for years, and I’ve wanted to build it.
