Re: Skipton's Gallery and Random Photos*new pics 11-11*

just remembered I had this video on my phone.
You can see some of the big waves from strong winds from hurricane Sandy.

You might want to take your dramamine

Also lets all keep our little yappy dogs on a leash

Re: Skipton's Gallery and Random Photos*new pics 11-11*

Long story but I did not ride my bike for almost three weeks!

I got knee bursitis
http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/knee-bursitis/DS00954

was painfull then got a infection in my lower leg.
Missed more then a week of work.

Then to make sure my knee was completely healed I took the train or drove the mini van :|
not fun and takes longer then riding my bike.

This last Sunday I was back on the bike!
Rode the short route just a little over 5 miles to make sure all was good.

Feels so good
Monday I did my normal route 8.5 miles most of it down the lake Michigan bike path.
Takes me 40 min door to door... quicker then driving
Picture of my finger  and traffic on South bond LakeShore Drive.
Around 8:45am on Monday, stop and go traffic and this pic was taking 5 miles from downtown.

Re: Skipton's Gallery and Random Photos 11-29 UPDATE

Glad to see you're back on the road, I mean path

Looks like some nice riding days :D

Re: Skipton's Gallery and Random Photos 11-29 UPDATE

I always like looking at your pics because I have done that lake shore path from end to end a couple times with my daughter, sister, et. al. :)

THANKS!

No time to stop for pretty pics today.....

Not bad for a 41 year old guy on a 60 year old bike.... That I think I have $45 invested in.

I would not believe the Max Speed... Sometimes the Iphone app gets a little sensitive

The graph shows just over 18 MPH is more realistic..... Why right at the end it jumps to over 24 MPH I dont know.

I did have a 9 to 10 mph tailwind and got real lucky on the stop lights, to be stopped for less then a minute.

Just for reference I was riding this Monark set up just like you see here.

Re: Skipton's Gallery and Random Photos 12-8 UPDATE

Randy,
I think the GPS app. Is called speed tracker.
I will try yours see if
It give me a better max speed.

I ride almost 5 miles on the lake. I get on the path at a pedestrian tunnel by Foster ave
Ride to just south of the Beach house "boat" at North ave beach to another pedestrian tunnel

image.jpg

You can see by the map I go out of my way to ride the lake path...
Such a nice ride, and this time of year I have the path all to myself!

Bike 2112
Thanks man! Not the fastest or the farthest ride but fun!
Keep me smiling!

Re: Skipton's Gallery and Random Photos 12-8 UPDATE

Hey Skipton! You're back in the saddle and in fine shape!! Nice Ride and cool app.
Thanks for sharing the detailed readouts. Now I'll have to remember where that is...

Re: Skipton's Gallery and Random Photos 12-8 UPDATE

Was running a little late Sunday afternoon, so I took the "quick route" to work.
As you can see it 4 or so miles shorter, but not a whole lot faster.
And not nearly as much fun.

Not sure why my screen shot if GPS data is cut and the photobucket
Won't let me turn it sideways.....
Total miles 5.4
Travel time just over 25 mins

Re: Skipton's Gallery and Random Photos 12-8 UPDATE

That's still a good rate. Some times I go slower if I'm less inspired by the scenery
Try taking your screen shot, throw it into Word, rotate it, and then paste back into Paint

Re: Skipton's Gallery and Random Photos 12-8 UPDATE

Thanks for looking everyone!

I have been riding this ratty Monark for a few weeks... It's a BLAST! simple and fun!

Put a long enough seatpost on and have been swapping tires around....
I actually like how the Kenda Flames look on the rusty wheel.

Hey Mplscoaster.... Know this spot?
image_zpsc89885f8.jpg

Fun with video
Best part of the Kenda Tire is the sound it makes when skidding

I screwed up the return run on this one

Re: Skipton's Gallery and Random Photos 12-17 UPDATE

Awesome skids Skipton!!! :D
Reminds me of when I was a kid and every penny of my allowance went toward new rear tires
I think the picture is by the beach Volleyball courts (from when we were there last summer)

Now that you got the seat jacked up, I bet you can get some good speed going
How do you have your Monarch geared and how much does it weigh?

Re: Skipton's Gallery and Random Photos 12-17 UPDATE

Steve

You got the spot
Right!

The seat post at the right height made a big difference check out today's data
Got a better average speed and no tail wind to speck of.
image_zps79371b08.jpg

Check out the graph....
image_zps3d23f46f.jpg

15.3 MPH average and I was slow to start
Still room to improve

Can't remember what it's geared its a skip tooth
26 in front i think... I will check and see.
