Loving the rack. Mocked up the guard before calling it a day in this heat and humidity.
Gonna work on the guard brackets tomorrow, so I'll need to break out the trusty portable bed frame spring steel.

R.I.P. Faux Mooneyes cover that I made from cheap costume fabric and tape. Somebody should make this a reality. Maybe I will one day.

Ghost Rider likes the build so far! (but he misses @Jake Sensi )

As far as the painting goes, I could almost see you just touching up the existing colors, repairing the seat with blue Duct Tape and Fauxtina-ing the whole thing with some amber Shellac-just a thought...

Some of the colors sort of go together now, but not enough for me to go that route.
Something along these general lines appeals to me, but it's not quite it. Just an idea generator.

Actually, right after I pasted that pic, I realized that I have already done that before. :D :D :D No wonder I liked it. :D :D :D

Without the white walls, of course. Gloss black, or dark gloss charcoal on matte black, leave the spokes on the wheels raw.
The bike will be cool no matter what you paint it. Maybe sparkle up the rear naner springs so they match the front fork?

SaltHammer update: Just heard that it SOLD today!

Please pardon this interruption of our regularly scheduled programming. Just wanted to get the word out that my BO11 bike SaltHammer is up for sale on FaceBook

Fun comparisons. The Girvin is not even possible on this build because of how long the headtube is. But I really like the Monark springer much better. It really fits the build so much better.

Our company lets us pick a few Summer Fridays to take off, so I took one today. Worked on the chain guard braces.

First thing I did was drill out the rivets on the existing guard. The rear one isn't long enough for this setup and I need to change the angle of the front bracket.

I took the front bracket and flattened out the frame mount portion, then bent it the opposite direction and closer to the guard. I found a few of the great rivet screws that I got from @Mark Davo for Rockafella. (I need to see if he has some more).

Then it was time to break out the trusty rollaway bed spring steel. I think I have used this stuff in some way on all but my first couple of builds. It is awesome to work with for braces and such. Plus the little yard sale flat vise that I have works as a great metal break with this stuff.

I pulled VerBoten out to reference how I did the guard brackets on that build.

Here are the VerBoten braces.

Recreated the chainstay loop, but made it so that it turned upwards in the middle of the tube and not on the edge. The placement of the Steamroller guard is a little different.

I did the front bracket a little different too. This Twin Bar frame has a cross plate under a section of the lower downtubes, so I angled the bracket so that I could attach to that plate. Then I just used my metal tape to mock the guard into place over and over until I got the placement right.
