Speaking of Queenfish 's courtyard. The humidity in Savannah is close to tropical conditions in the Summer. Great for plants, and also for algae. At least once a Summer I have to scrub our entire courtyard pavers with about 12 gallons of bleach. This morning was that day. QF had a gardening crew come through last weekend to prune and primp the plants, so the combined results are pretty amazing!
Today is a paint curing day. I don't know if I will get much else done on the bike today. That courtyard scrubbing really zapped me in this heat.
My next step is to start taping off the paint scheme on the frame and parts. You may remember my electrical tape paint scheme a month and a half ago. While I decided to not go with the yellow and black Mooneyes theme, I did decide that I really like the paint scheme layout that bisected the unique double tubes of this frame on the top and bottom.
If you use your imagination, picture this paint scheme, but where you see yellow will now be Metallic Silver and where you see black there will soon be Coppertone-ish VHT Burnt Copper.

The coppertone will look like a shadow on the low sides of the tubes. Gonna be killer. An offset copper pinstripe on the rims would really bring the build together, but tick tock! Deadlines
Are you talking about the costume fabric and electrical tape Mooneyes cover? That got scrapped with the colors. Someone should make one someday though.
The paint scheme isn't top half/bottom half. It is inner half/outer half if that makes sense. So the inner half of the tubes will be silver and the outer half will be coppertone. With the exception of the silver head tube and front section of tubes.
And yes I agree that some coppertone accent on the wheels will tie them together. I have some ideas around that as well as the paint accents on the other parts too.
Regular 3M masking tape kinda sucks for laying out curved lines, so I asked a painter buddy what he uses. Picked up some 1/4" blue fine line vinyl masking tape from an auto paint supply warehouse.
Man, this stuff is so much better at laying out the mask lines. Can't believe it took so long to discover it.

The color makes a huge difference. I don't even want to take mine apart just to seal it though. I guess I have a week to belly ache about it
Had another distraction today. I am finally getting a Ruff Porucho frame. This frame will be headed my way soon.
Wow, using the seat for comparison the frame looks huge. Judging by the dropouts this must be a first generation frame?

A little tip on the 1/4" blue fine line tape. If you make any tight radius bends or curves with it, paint as soon as possible and burnish it just before you spray. It bends nice but has an extreme tendency to lift when stretched on a curve. It also has the same problem when going over ridges such as a frame lug. 1/8" is better for tight curves.
A trick I use to help hold it down is to cover as much of it as possible with 1/2" crepe masking tape. Also don't use the blue crepe masking tape, it's low tack and just about useless. Use an automotive grade masking tape.

The fine line tape also comes in 1/8" and narrower. Works better on tight turns.
I'll let you know the geometry measurements when it arrives.
Thanks for the great tips. I got most of the frame taped today and did what you were talking about with the crepe masking over the fine line tape. No sharp curves yet, so no worries there. I do see what you mean about lug joints though.
I'll pick up some of the 1/8" tape tomorrow for some of the paint layout on the rack an guard.

Frame is completely masked off and ready for VHT Burnt Copper tomorrow. The taped areas will be remaining Metallic Silver and all of the silver you see now will be the Coppertone-ish color.

What kind of tape is that yellow tape? Don't tgink I've seen that before.
