Hi all! I've been mountain biking for about 7 years, and really dig general bike culture and odd homebuilt bikes. I built my first bike last year, and everybody I ride with loves it, but nobody around here builds bikes for anything besides racing. It's nice to find other people interested. I think I can learn a lot here, and you fuys are probably going to be a bad influence...

I'll post pics of my Beer Bike somewhere beside the intros.

Anybody else in Georgia / Southeast?

Thanks man! We southerners are no stranger to beer either, but bikes are foreign to most people down here..

Pics are in the gallery forum.

Welcome abaord!

We have our resident Georgian....DumpesterDiver. I think he lives in Valdosta.

How did you hear about the forum?

I actually followed a link off the HAMB traditional hotrods site....I'm a car guy too, and love the pinstriping and art on their forum. But bikes have gotten under my skin almost as much as the cars. Much cheaper than my '05 Mustang.
I'm about 3 hours north of 'Dosta. Nobody around here is custom building, although my LBS does sell a good number of stock-part-built lowriders

we have a few Hambers here...
my Login name on the Hamb is
"60longroof"

you will notice as you spend more time here .....that
a lot of our influences here at Rat Rod Bikes are
directly linked to our Love for very cool cars!

peace,
Kev.

The two are closely related. Love for mechanical things has a way of creeping in all over. I'm actually going autocrossing with several guys from the mountain bike bunch tomorrow.

old schwinns=traditional rods
carbon race bikes = new vettes and stangs

I like beer

Well...the Dumpster man is a serious source for old bikes and parts. He posts in the classified section every now and again.

Hey nice to have you. Do you work on vintage bicycles? I do not work on the mountain bikes but I have plenty of vintage stuff. I live down in Valdosta if you are looking for any parts.
Email me at [email protected]. Thanks

Welcome!

hey Tatosuc...and Ultracycle,
I took one of my best friends on his first "Vancruisers" ride
on Friday night...all around the inner Harbour of Vancouver from
about 8:00pm until 1:30 am
I lent him my Rollfast and I rode my build off bike.

He said he hasn't had that much fun on a bike in years..
and he Downhill races,crosscountry,free-ride, etc. competitivly

It felt good looking over at him and seeing a smile from ear to ear.
It's a Bug that's hard to get rid of...

peace,
Kev.

Seems to be the standard response whether the person is a moutain biker or a roadie....ear to ear smile and the most fun they have ever had on a ride. Guess Norco summed it up in their catalog a cpl years back....you havent lived till you have gone on a group cruise...

Yeah, i took the beer bike and trailer to one of our local club meetings and everybody took turns riding it around the parking lot. They all loved it, but the near lack of brakes terrified everyone.

I wish things here were a little less suburban. It makes it hard to really enjoy cruizing on a rat bike when all you get to see are the neighbors houses and bratty kids. The Vancruise sounds cool.

Dumpster - I'm just getting into building the old bikes, but I like it. I'll be sure to keep ya in mind!
