Tick tock...

Also, you guys getting close or finishing up don't forget to make a post with the words I'm done, with the picture you want me to use in the voting thread. I'll try to get the voting thread up ASAP and we'll run voting for a week. I've yet to get all the parts I need for the trophy, but it's a thing for sure.

Carl.

Been living in NC for 20 years now. Seems hard to believe people still have snow at the end of March. It's 76 degrees outside right now.

I would be somewhere near where you are for March and April if it weren’t for the national quarantine. It is paradise up here, except for these two months.

Serviced bearings, added new tubes, adjusted a few things. This ‘55 Hawthorne is probably as done as it’s going to get. It rides well steering is quick. I figure it’s a quintessential rat rod bike as it is.

So retro and so cool. You can always quicken the steering up even more. and make it more dangerous to ride by adding a suicide knob to the steering wheel. Ha ha.

Or just hold on the gooseneck in the center, instead of the rim.

Yeas just happen to have a knob, think I’ll pass though.

I did experiment with hand placement. 180 degrees on the wood rim just about right...lol.

Frost this morning. Still too frikkin cold to paint. Covid lockdown keeping me from the tools and supplies I need. Guess who can't find a mask to paint with. Don't think the Donkey is going to make it to the finish line.

Here’s my extra $5 knob. Thought about using this chainguard but I’ll save it for something else.

I’m in! Project name: “The Hawk”.

I had to check my camera roll to see when I started this build. Lucky for me it was the 2nd of March [emoji16]

I bought this second-hand balance bike (cost me only €7,50.) for me son and found it a little too “girly”. And it’s a great opportunity to transform this bike into something unique.

I’m close to done with this build. Actually I’m planning to finish it tomorrow. Fortunately I took quite a few pictures of the build progress.

The starting point.

I bought new handlebars, stem and grips. The handlebars were way to wide for a 2,5 year old so I had to cut it. I marked the cut with tape and then I cut at the wrong side of the tape [emoji85]. Oops. I had to weld it back together because there was not enough length left for the grips.

Just finished the satin black. It's been raining and so damp and humid. But I'm hoping to assemble tomorrow. Tick tock.
