After looking at all the bikes, the only one that feels like it embraces a true rat rod is Fordsnakes remix. The other bikes are cool but Remix is a true ratrod.

After 3 build-offs, I guess you can't win them all... but evidently you *can* lose them all.

I don't see how. One youth pastor that I know is NC came away with 76er, Higgins German Spy, and Off-Roadmaster trophies!!!!

I'm not complaining, I love to build them, and getting more votes than last year on a bike that really doesn't "fit" is pretty cool. I was competitive the first year, since then, I just build.

Thats the way it should be. Build a bike you want to ride, and either way win or loose, you have yourself a sweet bike that you built yourself.

Congrats to all the winners, has been another wonderful challenging build-off... :D
I came 26th last year,& this year 7th, neck & neck with Lady Jivaro - King Zebba :D
And 13th overall in the RRB0#8...
Always room for improvement.
Fordsnake: I'm coming for you next year...
Ok !now where is my A++++ extra +++++ game...
Don't worry I have a year to find it...

Thankyou all for a wonderful time, and support...

Congratulations Carlton... nice one mate, you must be stoked. Can't wait to see what those 3G Jemimas and Custom Leather Grips end up on.

I hope this win takes a wee bit of the sting out of your personal dramas. You are an inspiration and "Remix" got one of my votes along with "Southern Flyer" and "Tuco Benedicto Pacifico Juan Maria Ramirez".

Also to all the other Traditional participants... good work everyone. :D

Whoaaa. Sorry boys and girls. I guess I came across a little harsh. It was just an opinion. I didn't mean to insult anyone or the bikes. I'll just shut up now. T

I believe that this is why Steve was wise enough to ban any discussion on the definition of "Rat Rods". This site has a big enough umbrella for everyone to stand under and not get wet because of it.

I didn't have a reaction to the comment simply because I understand that in this forum the term "Rat Rod" can mean many different things to anyone who chooses to sign up (for free I might add) and add to the mix. If we can all somehow transpose the words "Rat Rod" into something more descriptive like Awesome, or Cool, or just Fun, then the opinions of others here wouldn't feel like an attack on our own definition of "Rat Rod".

If you compare my bike Southern Flyer to Tommy's bike Victus Mortuus, it would be hard to find any similarities. Obviously, Southern Flyer represents a Rat Rod bike to me simply because I built it. But I was impressed enough with Victus Mortuus that I used one of my votes on it. To me Remix is a wonderful art project and I can see how Victus Mortuus (also an expression of art) would have similarities and therefore fit a particular definition of what a Rat Rod is, even if it were not mine. Heck, even my own bike is in stark contrast to the MotoBike that I started the build off with! Personally I don't want to see 107 bikes that look like mine.

To paraphrase another member here; "We can't take ourselves too seriously because after all, we are just adults playing with bicycles!"

Peace!

Just realized i was entry 69, i hate the bike a lot less now. Im sure eventually Ill learn the skills necessary to get to where I was shooting for. In the mean time I've got a '55 Shelby Flyer and a '64 Columbia for a female friend to work on.

The actual phrase was "geeky guys in garages". It's just not the same without the alliteration. :p
