Ok I wanna play too! Last winter between overtime at work and ice racing I had no time or ambition to work on bikes so we'll see how this goes. I picked up this crusty rusty fire arrow behind the powder coating shop a couple months ago

it had a Schwinn seat on it that the guy wanted back so that was first to go
at some time they hit it with a snow plow so the front end is a bit tweeked
but the tank looks pretty good.

so far the only plan is to leave it rusty and swipe the seat, stem, crank and sprocket off this scrap yard find

I already swiped the pedals for the bike I built my girlfriend for Christmas. I'm gonna try to use mostly parts I already have and keep this thing low budget. Step one,; PB blaster!

and the fun begins. Front wheel is junk

but I'll save the hub for parts. This is the secret weapon for stuck fork nuts

about two seconds and no effort and it's off

fork is going in the scrap pile too!

but I'm gonna try to straighten and save the chain guard

luckily there were no batteries in the tank so the inside is decent and there's plenty of room for hornets

glad u didn't bring this thing home in the summer

it actually came apart relatively easily, couple hours later I've got a frame, time for some sleep! Stay tuned...

Now that I've got this thing torn down to the frame it's time to fit some parts

the only wheels I have are a set of chrome middleweights with a komet hub so that's what I'm gonna use

I have this awesome Davis deluxe safety grip tire

that just fits and is not too crunchy, I'm thinking fat/skinny tires on this...

I have a fork and handlebars in mind but as I was fitting parts I realized this frame is bent in a couple different directions :( I'm gonna bring it to work and try to make it rideable with brute force and ignorance, failing that I'll be either looking for a Columbia straight bar frame or selling the tank to get back what I spent on the bike, stay tuned...

This frame is bent and twisted in too many directions, it's beyond my skill set and tool box to fix, so unless I can come up with another project bike I'm out :( I will be watching everyone else's progress, have fun and good luck!

That's a shame, this build had lots of potential! Good luck finding another project.

That's a real shame to hear, Joel. I wish I had known about this before I built my WBO bike. I would've gave you the frame.
