This might fix your "over stretch" problem. Tighten the axle in place, then place your stretching tool a little farther back than you had it. Now put some pressure on it (you might have to test it a couple times) if you get it right, the axle frame slots will stay put, plus have a better fitting...

I just purchased a 1966 Stingray Fastback that I'm positive has a great story to tell! Although, I can only tell you what I see has happened to it. It was hacksawed in half, cables included... and they didn't stop there. The front tire was cut off n half way through the rim, and the back...

In the 1968 Huffy catalog there's a gold fender less bike with polo style white seat. In the 1969 Huffy catalog it shows a Rail and a wheel bike with that seat on them. Good instincts on the seat!
