I would love to, I even have all the parts gathered for a build in each section, but I am way to busy and stretched at the moment with the house.

I have a Hoosier road racing slick already mounted to a bike modified rim and a suitable front slick too, that would make a nice Pedro style crazy muscle, and I have two alloy 21" motorcycle rims I want to build a klunker around too, even have a Pacific built beach cruiser ready to cut up for it...

I have been planning while working on the house, trust me... But I need to get the house liveable first, so sorry, I'm not in for this one...
We'll be here waiting for you!!

Date range?
????? 10/1 seems like short notice only because we would still have to have the admins setup sub forums. Middle of Oct start? Nov 1st start? 11/1-3/1?

I'm just throwing darts at the board here...........

Are you running things or are you building?

Ok, so we are moving forward with a MBBO and an ORBO then?

Who else is in? @CRASH @Crazy Nick @Jude Ephesus @ParkRNDL @GuitarlCarl @Jaxon @N.Kildare1718 @tjwilson @rev106

I'm just throwing out names here.......... :21:
I have two MBBO candidates. One is a Fastback that I tried to get going in the last MBBO and bailed out on:

The other is what's left of a 24" Sears Spyder 5 speed with the funky twin-tube Spaceliner-looking architecture:

Also have a nice set of 24" BMX cruiser wheels that I've been dying to build a bike around:

So I have plenty of options. It's just a question of finding the time/motivation...

Look up Victor Vincente of America. He was building off road 20s and 20/24 reverse mullets before Gary and co got ahold of 26" alloys.

Pure madness, he stuck with the small sizes even after the BMX 26 rims came out and their benefits became obvious
i was going to say... that would be the way to do it without a huge layback seatpost like we used to do... yeah, again, before 24" or 26" bmx was really a "thing".

Rules as per usual except the type of bike is limited to:

-BMX suitable for an adult to ride, can be set up for park/race/dirt/tricks whatever...
-Klunker/Bomber/Hybrid/MTB... (anywhere from period correct early single speed coaster brake Bomber/Klunker to current carbon frame, hydraulic disc, full suspension Mountain bike)

This is not a build-off for your everyday cruiser, perfect restoration, or your ride to the shops bikes... This is for bikes that are meant to be ridden hard and fast, jumped, skidded and abused!

Standard rules:

1. Start a new post and use the bike name as the post "Subject/Title."

2. Keep a running journal in your thread about your build showing the steps you are taking. Please don't just build away and expect to jump in at the last second with a finished bike, you can enter at any time before the deadline, but the build must not be finished when you enter.

3. Bike must be built within the dates specified. It must not be started before the start date.

4. Must include progress and finished photos (all in one thread please)

5. Bike must be ridable.

We are pretty free apart from that, you can enter multiple builds if you feel you can complete them in the three months.

You may notice the 'all welding must be done by the builder' rule is left out this year, feel free to take advantage of it!

Frame built from scratch are welcome too!

Back in RRB BO8, there was a Klunker side challenge where one of the requirements was a classic Klunker skid video. I present to you Firewing (the Urban Klunker) (watch with sound on). :D :D :D :D

I won't be joining, this is usually the time when I catch up on selling bikes. :D

So we need to:
  • Settle on dates
    • Please put out some suggestions
  • Agree to rules and guidelines for both classes
    • MBBO (probably pretty good here as previous rules work well)
    • ORBO
  • Have someone on board to perform the round up at the end for voting
    • I think between @Angie and @RustyGold and myself we can get everything kicked off and running

The last one started in Oct and ended in March .

Build Off starts Oct 1st 2020 and ends on March 1st 2021 at 9:00 pm CT.
I would be into a muscle bike build off. 👍🏼 Fall winter is a good time for building.
Yeah I can usually pull some kind of build out of thin air especially if we have SIX MONTHS....
So that's like Fall - Winter and Spring.

I've got a pos 20" Chinese folder that needs cut up.
Chop Suey is Chinese for odds and ends, so I probably have my bike and name / theme...
Ha I just pulled that out of "thin air" as I was typing.
Guess I'm in. But is it going to be a Muscle Bike or and Off Road???

Carl.

MBBO

The 2 out 3 rule: Must meet at least 2 of the following 3 options:

  • Rear tire larger than the front. (Wider or taller or both.)
  • Banana seat.
  • Muscle bike appropriate bars. (Apehangers, steering wheels...)
    • You CAN have all three options!

Standard rules:

* You are expected to start a build thread in the appropriate class “Build Journal” section and post progress pics as you go.
  • Please don't just build away and expect to jump in at the last second with a finished bike. You can enter at any time before the deadline, but the build must not be finished when you enter
* Keep a running journal in your thread about your build showing the steps you are taking

* You must post a thread in the appropriate “Finished Bikes” subforum for your class once your work is complete. Please make the first photo in your finished thread your top choice as it will be the photo used in the voting process. If your builds rideability is questionable please provide a riding picture or video, just to quell that question from those that like to cause trouble

* Multiple entries from one builder are allowed, but they must have their own build threads as well as their own finished threads and be entered for voting separately

* Bike must be built within the dates specified. It must not be started before the start date
* Bike must be pedal powered and ridable

You may notice the 'all welding must be done by the builder' rule is left out this year, feel free to take advantage of it!

I haven't taken my turn at this yet ... so, I'll do it.

Sweet!!

So we need to:
  • Settle on dates

10/1/2021 to 2/1/2022 ?
11/1/2021 to 3/1/2022 ?
Other options ?
