    SHOW US YOUR KLUNKERZ

Okay, these days I have little use for an off road klunker so I'm toying with something I call Urban Neo-Klunker (UNK). Urban as in bike path crusher fitted with street tread 700x38 Kenda Couriers. Neo as in not based on an old Schwinn straight bar frame (Huffy Premier in this case.) And...

    What are you listening to?

I generally go in for classic rock on Pandora. I was last weekend years old when I learned that Santana is excellent bike riding music. Other favorites include Jackson Browne, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Joe Bonamassa, Bob Seiger, Steely Dan, Bob Marley, and of course, the patron saint of Florida Jimmy...

    Tire fitment Huffy Premier

    The stock tires were 700 x45 so I can't imagine there's not another 5 mm of clearance. 700 x 50 is just a tad more narrow than 29 x 2

    Tire fitment Huffy Premier

So I'm shopping for new shoes for my Redneck CX, a Huffy premier. I'd like to go as wide as I can. I know for fact 29 x 2.2 tires won't work. Anyone running 29 x 2.0 or 700 x 50s on one of these? I've currently got a set of 29 x 2.0 Thick Slicks inbound for another bike but was hoping you guys...

Full Dress Bikes. (with at least fenders)

This is the only full dresser in my fleet. I stumbled over this a couple weeks back and since my first bike ever was a Columbia I immediately wanted this one. My initial intent was to klunk it. But the more I talked to it the more it just felt right to get it rolling with parts I had on hand...

    My Latest Hair-brained Scheme

Okay so instead of a throw together bike, I've decided to make this a long term build. I've got a Cranbrook in my stable. It's complete and currently my grab and go beach cruiser. For the build I'm thinking a turquoise blue frame and fork with gloss black wheels, handlebars and stem. For the...

    My Latest Hair-brained Scheme

Well piss, somebody beat me to it. Oh well I'll keep my eyes peeled for another. Anyone have any intel on how a bike set up like this will ride and handle? Is it something I could jump on and ride 20-40 miles comfortably?

    My Latest Hair-brained Scheme

Sure does, he says it's American made too (not sure if Good Vibrations even go back that far.) I'm bout to cruise out and fetch it tomorrow. That little bit of front end rake just screamed "do something freaky". Once I have the frame it should be a quick throw together and ride.

    My Latest Hair-brained Scheme

So I've got a line on an older Huffy Good Vibrations frame that's cheap and in good shape. I have a spare 26" Huffy wheel set off a Nel Lusso. I also have a single 26 x 2.3 Krad (I'm thinking use this in the back.) My front tire would be a 26 x 1.25 Bontrager slick. And for the coup de gras, a...

New guy in Florida... And new life for a Trash Huffy

Still got some wrenching to do but overall its a great cruiser. Needs a new seat and tires. I know for a fact 29 x 2.2 wont fit. The 700 x 38s I'm running at the moment work but I think fatter would be better 700 x 47 maybe

Can I Get Away with This?

    Yeah that's what I figured, guess I just spring for a pair in 29 x 2

What have you been riding lately?

Seeing a lot of my Trek/ Gary Fisher Kaitai these days. New handlebars, grips and pedals are inbound.

New Guy with a (Don't Laugh) Walmart Bike

This is totally what I love about this place, the first rule is there aren't any. It's all about bikes-period. There's no snobbery or judgement about what you ride or where it came from, Walmart, a dumpster or curb rescue, thrift store, recycling center, it really doesn't matter. Around here...

Can I Get Away with This?

I have a set of 27.5 x 2.0 Thick Slicks. Can I run them on a 700/29 rim? What tubes should I use? Maximum PSI?

    Gearing Question

I do really like the Holy Rollers. They don't have a lot of miles on them and the plan was generally to ride these into the ground before shopping for Hookworms. You wouldn't recommend Hookworms?

    Gearing Question

Perfect, that formula is the bee's knees. My donor rig is a 32t chainring and crank off one of my junk BMX bikes. When I do the rear hub just slap a 15t cog in the back, new chain and presto! This combination puts me just a tad below 55.5 so it should be good to go! Thanks brother

    Gearing Question

So my current quest is a Nel Lusso based ....... Beach Bum Klunker named Nuthin's Easy. I still need to disassemble and grease the rear hub but the gearing seems a bit tall. Hills are not really a factor. However, 1. I'm an old man and. 2. I typically use my klunkers for serious long rides. 3...

    My Redneck CX Bike

I took a look at the tire and that was in fact the case, the bead was a bit cattywompis creating kind of a flat spot. I stumbled on a set of slightly wider tires (700 x 38) cruises like a charm
