    Schwinn Heavy Duti Question!

Hello Everyone! Can anyone tell me when they started making the Heavy Duti? I thought they were made for only a couple years like 78 and 79. I have one that I haven't ran numbers on yet. Have to remove the gum and tar of a cheap rattle can job first. Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

    Shane's Rat! Cruiser SS

This bike actually belonged to an Air Force Squadron known as " Environmental Flight ". They had an auction a few years ago at the base and this was one of the items. There was a women's version they had too but, I passed. Only changes so far are apes, and the rack on the back is off my...

    Use the spare room!

Don't ever give a bike guy a spare room! :D This used to be our music room until, I moved the music equipment into the living room. My better half requested that I bring my bikes into the warmth. She really is my soul mate!

    Hawthorne Ladies Rat

This is just a rusty old Hawtorne I rescued from a farmers yard sale. Leaving her rusty and cool. Borrowed the seat from a Lil' Chik and the sissy bar is off my old school 60's chopper build bike that has gone to a shorter sissy bar.

    Custom Free Spirit

Then I have this thing that I actually put more time in than anything yet! Found in a mud puddle out behind a local thrift shop. It was solid rust and I spent hours cleaning. Fenders are off a Huffy Sportsman that I still have. Bars are off a varsity, not sure if I like them on this...

    The Old Green Schwinn

This is the first bike I started out with earlier this summer when I got into bikes! I did the paint job before I became a member of this forum and so, the theme will probably change. I don't have the fenders or racks on it yet as I am still trying to figure out what direction from here...

    The Goods!

Showed my wifey the clothing section in " Goods ". She is ordering me a couple hats since I don't do anything but, sleep without a hat on my head. I just wanted to urge others to browse the cool stuff there too! Really neat selection from my favorite forum and site on the web...

    American Pickers

I have seen some posts here about how these guys are driving up prices of used bikes and making our picking harder. Well, I tended to agree until, I saw last weeks episode and watched the boys give back to a pick. If you missed it, they bought some folk art canvases from a carnival that the...

Made in England 10 speed from 60's ?

I found this bike at a thrift store laying out back in the weeds. I don't have pics up yet but, it is a 10 speed with upright road cruiser bars, shimano eagle derailer and on the front derailer it says Thunder Bird. Has Archer rims that were made in England and even the original white grips...

    Lady Rats!

Since I started my quest to become a notable builder of rat bikes and develope my own style of bike, I have found and bought many more ladies cruisers than mens. I know thisis mainly due to the fact that men and boys bikes from back in the day were jumped, wrecked, laid down in the yard for...

    Found one of my Schwinns

Just found out that one of my old schwinns is actually a 61' panther III missing only the tank/plate between the top tube and two small tubes. Headlight, racks, etc. are still there. I could not seem to find it due to the serial numbers being too hard to read. I found a picture of it...

    Find of the century.

Don't have any pics of it yet and won't make the trip to get it until Dec. but, my wifes cousin has been digging their family barns as they heard I was into old bikes. They dug out a 1915 Excelsior with only barn dust on it. no rust. It is in southern Mississippi. It belonged to her great...

Lured in by an old Schwinn

Hey all, new builder, new to site. Started my hunger this summer after hitting a community yard sale and buying nearly every bike I found. I have hit many sales since and have picked up 18 for less than 150 bucks. I have everything from 50's Schwinns to a funky mountain bike I just had to...

    cranks, bearings, and bottome brackets.

I have a 65' Firestone Warrior Vagabond with a really small sprocket. I am new to this. I also have a problem with the slipping when I pedal. Does this mean the bearings are bad? If so...how can I change the cranks, sprocket, bottom bracket or bearings, without one of those special crank...
